The S1000RR has been my favorite and it just got better But yes if i had the money to put on a better superbike next best would be the Honda CBR. None of the others get close to these two.

ZX10R: Marginally below the BMW in straight line. Was recalled recently. Electronics might or might not save the day for Kawasaki.
ZX has a great base to beat the Hitler(lol loved it)!.like i said if KAWA plays some intelligent updates-it will be a cracker.

R1: Yeah, rides good, great for the city and highways. But the crossplane crankshaft reduces its horsepower on rear wheels. Amazing Soundtrack though but struggles for even 155 bhp true. 2012 model got traction control, and can still lap well enough, with great grip around corners.
Really looks like YAMAHA will have a major overhaul on it for 2013.probably that why testing out the TRC without any much upgrade.still a great street machine.

Ducati 1199 Panigale: This might make the S1000R a bit shy. True that its 1200cc Twin, but it makes 195 bhp in 176 kgs of weight! The basics of this bike (handling, braking, cornering, etc.) are expected to be very strong.
If one is ready to break into another segment then this might be a great choice over S1000RR. Panigale's just been revealed though and release is awaited AFAIK.
Panagle-i have a feeling it wont take the top spot-anyway lets wait and see.

On other hand we see the japs cleaning the slate clean in Motogp, making others looks as though they are just racing to make up the numbers on track. Though they seriously have to work on their street versions.
i dont thing the 1000RR isnt the one exactly to be blamed at the WSBK-could be the rider.

^^that's brake fluid container. Every disk brake bike has it. On our bikes it's made of metal and on SBKs it's plastic.

I knew BMW was doing well but I was really surprised to see this - 24 percent of all sportbikes sold worldwide in 2010 were S1000RRs. Wow. Good to read about the revisions in the bike, the competition sure has a lot of catching up to do. I cant wait to see the price when it lands on Indian shores

Is it just me or is that blue / black combination atrocious?

Yes, even I don't like that particular combo. But, with 4 color combos and the brilliance inside the machine, no one's complaining. Although, it does remind me of some 90's MotoGP Suzuki's.

Have a look at the color combos offered:

Earlier, there were 5 special colors offered. I think those would be offered in the middle of 2012 to keep up the demand. Good strategy it would be!

And I would like to add, this is the page for 2012 changes in the bike:

Yes mate, they are not the Telelevers which the company employs on the HP2, k1300r/s and the 1200gs.

Strange enough, BMW India claim to have sold 50 of their bikes here by far and none on xbhp though. Would really love to dig an ownership report of this beast.

I spoke to them, almost all of the bikes sold so far have been sold to their existing car customers. So dont know how many bike-bike enthusiasts.....

50 bikes sold includes 2 full option K1600GTL bikes sold in mumbai at Rs 35 lacs each.

BAJAJ should play smart and bring the ZX right now!at half the price it will surely have an edge over the BMW!and who knows BMW might just cut the price!

My friend bought the S1000RR, the first one in Delhi a week ago, I rode it on DND and it is good, very smooth engine and lots of power, very stable on the curves, as we are running it on didn't really push it beyond 7K RPM in any gear, rain mode 6th gear 7K RPM was nearly 153km/h......you can see some pics on our face book page, search for "living with a superbike".

                            Cheers
