  • 2012 Suzuki GSXR-1000

Surely not the update that Gixxer lovers were hoping for, the 2012 Suzuki GSX-R1000 sees a modest retooling as the Japanese company's liter bike most noticeably goes back to a single exhaust can design. Officially dropping 2kg (4.4 lbs) from its curb weight, we assume the weight savings to the new Suzuki GSX-R1000 can be accounted purely from the new exhaust layout, though Suzuki lists a number of small weight savings throughout the Gixxer's refined design. Despite a bevy of minor improvements, the big changes include the addition of a beefier midrange, better throttle response, Brembo monoblock calipers with .5mm thinner brake discs, and an improved fuel efficiency by 8%.

They were going saying over the media that "GSXR 1000 is going to get an even bigger update" on the event of GSXR750's major update and weight reduction (by 8 kgs)...

So, this ain't exactly what people were expecting. Well, maybe the 2013 or '14 edition will get that major update which people expect.

And lookswise, it somehow looks the same since xx amount of years, I feel.

Looks are generally subjective. For some reason, i feel the 2012 model is not exactly a head-turner.

Silencer is the notable change and this is the one thing which was ugly looking shape and majority dislikes in previous year model.Albeit they have changed silencer but still doesn't go with the bike's styling which has sharp and mean looks.Nonetheless it'll remain my fave and dream bike.

The existing model with Black-copper combo and old exhusts grab more eyeballs than even a fireblade.

you are defiantly true on that front. Its no head turner because japs have always been focusing only on the front of the bikes. some one show them a f3 from back, side and GOD must see the exhaust.

Most of those features were present on the existing model.
