Suzuki Motor looking at India as export hubSource: Suzuki Motor looking at India as export hub - Business Today - Business News

    ---
I hope people don't expect Suzuki India to manufacture fast motorcycles just because of this news. They're exporting existing motorcycles to developing countries like Nepal, etc. At the best, you can get another mass market product, if the company feels its demand.
Basically, it just means that Suzuki is looking for export opportunities. Something that I think most Auto Companies already do.

Asked whether the company will have more products in the mass segment, she said: "It will depend on how things go. As of now we have one product in the category and we are looking at 10,000 per month numbers at the starting. As we move on we need to launch more…we are looking at this segment seriously."

    .

Whoa, seriously? 10,000 units per month! Maybe they are day-dreaming. Out of the five bikes, access is the oly one which is common on the roads. i hardly see any other suzuki bikes on the road. first they have to improve their service standards and then they can look for increasing numbers.

This thing aside, its a good sign that many bike makers are looking at india as the export hub

      Just to set a perspective.
Look what volumes they are aspiring to do. Aspiring. Big word. And they call it Aspiring seriously. Now if that isnt funny then what is!

10K units is seriously big numbers but i guess its a long term target

Access is a good bike i would say, having personally owned one for past 6-7 months. And their service is also good, at least in Pune it is good. But i went for it only because Activa had a huge waiting list here when i wanted a scooter urgently. Basically its almost as a good a Activa but not a better one

But the issue is their products are mostly a me-too kind of products with nothing new or different being offered in all segments that is having big competition be it scooters or motorbikes (100, 150 or above 150 cc segments). Unless they offer something different it will be difficult to capture market share in an existing segment. Or else they will need to carve out a new segment/ niche segment with new products.
