  • Honda CBR400R to be revived

If you are looking for a half litter bike, then here is what you need.

Its been more than a decade since the Honda CBR400R production came to a halt. This 400 cc motorcycle popularly called the ‘BabyBlade’ was sold mainly in the Japanese market and disappeared with the dawn of the new century. Now according to a popular Japanese motorcycling magazine, Honda is all set to breathe life back into the CBR400R in order to offer customers an even wider range of choices.

The CBR400R will in all probability will be a parallel twin. One can expect a healthy power of about 50+ bhp from the CBR 400R and a top whack of above 200kmph

    Topic Closed.

Not enough source. Just one Japanese magazine giving some spy/ artistic/ old model's pics. Even if a reliable link like Visordown is claiming its a rumor, not a news.

Will open this topic, if anything concrete matures up.

Despite not even a single proper spy pic leaked, the news is all over the net, just because a magazine said so. And I think the magazine must have a proper reason for posting this news. And Honda has many reasons to launch this.

But in any case, don't expect this to rival the 400RR of the 90's. I think it will be softened like the 250R is.

        So, Topic Re-Opened.

while it is extremely possible, i hope you turn out to be wrong
The 400rr is my favourite bike and the reason i am a honda fan even though i ride a yamaha
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!' -Hunter S. Thompson

even if it is mellowed down a bit, a 400 CC CBR ....i will want it. and i will do anything to make it mine.

given my personal circumstances, i couldn't buy a CBR250, decided to wait six months, and if there is a CBR400 in 2013, it will be mine.period.

and given the fact that honda believes in affordable performance, it should be priced around 3.25 laks to 3.75 lakhs ...is my guess right or just wishful thinking ???

Did someone else also notice the pic also has a photo with Kawasaki ninja 400r written next to it? I hope that it's not the same magazine which had published about the yamaha yzf R4.

Yes, "Young Machine" is the Japanese magazine that gave both these scoops about YZF R4 250cc and CBR 400R, although both these scoops were given years apart.

I will definitely buy it if its an upgrade on my current R15. I don't want to gain some (power) and loose some (Handling). Also it should be made in India. I don't want to pay 30 % to our awesome government. Give it everything you got Honda.

Recently, BI also wrote an article for this:

Honda’s recent models, the CBR 250R and CBR 150R, have been highly successful in many parts of the world.
And, there is no denying that the CBR600RR and the CBR1000RR have been legends for years. However, while the 150-cc and 250-cc motorcycles are for the beginners, the 600RR and 1000RR are for the pros. There is nothing that bridges the gap between these two sets of motorcycles and, to address this, it is believed that Honda are working on a CBR 400R.

According to an exclusive scoop by the Japanese magazine Young Machine, the new CBR 400R is expected to be a parallel twin-cylinder 400-cc machine that will generate approximately 50 PS of peak power and will attain a top speed of 180 km/h. That's all we know for now but we're as excited as you are and can't wait to see how it pans out, and whether Honda brings this new bike into the country. If it does it will be the ideal sportsbike for an entire generation waiting to upgrade from the de rigeur 250ccs, but - for financial or safety concerns - don't want a full-fledged big bike. Until then, wait, watch and pray!
Let's hope it happens. Although, with 50 PS this appears to be the real deal! As far from Sports Tourers as possible.
If its a true news, then I expect a well balanced chassis and sporty riding position too.

Let's hope no heavy parts sharing happens. Few shared parts is ok, as long as each machine retains its own character.
