Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

there is no official or un-official teaming-up, and it can't happen, purely due to business interests.

Does that leave TVS and Suzuki (earstwhile JV partners) for another Indo-Japan match?

Where does Yamaha fit into all this?

It will continue maling top quality, although a bit overpriced and a little short on BHP bikes and continue its niche fan following.

so Yamaha is focussing on 150 cc segment, and they have nothing but a sub 150 cc scooter to add in their portfolio in 2012.

The best Yamaha can do now is "try" to "catch up" with Bajaj as of now, competition will be the next stage.

Suzuki launched Hayate to compete with TVS Sport while giving performance of TVS Star City. GS150R for the entry level tourer that still has no REAL competition at its price yet heavily misses out on 55w Full DC electricals & tubeless tyres to complete the package. End of the day hope Salman Khan brings enough customers for Suzuki because they seem to suck at selling

TVS Apache has no real competition even today after the questionable "upgrade". Its focused on speed, is mod friendly and the small size doesn't deter racers (who tend to have light bodies to aid speed).

If it launches this beauty in India it will have taken the performance scooter/step-through crown effortlessly (SOHC, Liquid Cooled, Rear Disc, Monoshock Rear - what more do you want in this segment ?)

                    1. HMSI will surge fwd in terms of volumes with Dream Yuga, Bajaj will have to eat the humble pie of being no.3 in terms of domestic sales. Their target to be No.1 in India by 2020 will only reduce to may be 2015-2017.
                    2. Hero with Maestro will take some pie out of HMSI and improve it's volumes further, impusle & ignitor will also add some numbers to Hero's kitty. Splendor may not loose it's number very soon but gradually Yuga will be a threat to Splendor and in long term Splendor may have to vacate it's no.1 slot.
                    3. Yamaha is doing well in 150cc segment and should improve over time.
                    4. Bajaj will maintain 3 slot by sacking models and introducing newer models.
                    5. Suzuki has lauched Hayate at almost 4K lesser than Yuga, Suzuki will also gain in entry level segment.
                    6. Bajaj's Disc100 will take hit with Yuga & Hayate and possible Yamaha's 110/100 cc bike.
                    7. TVS : No comments.

Yamaha is not in competition right now as their bike offer lesser fuel efficiency. in our country they will find it hard to compete and will be niche products.
