    Two wheeler industry leads to a slowdown yet again but companies expect better for the coming festive season (Diwali esp).

    1) Hero Motocorp -> -12%

    Country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp today reported a dip of 11.88 per cent in sales at 4,43,801 units in August.

    The company had sold 5,03,654 units in August, 2011, Hero MotoCorp said in a statement.

    Commenting on its numbers, Hero MotoCorp Senior Vice- President (Marketing and Sales) Anil Dua said: "The dispatch numbers of August reflect the market sentiment.

    The two-wheeler industry in the country has been facing a challenging time due to the overall macro-economic situation which has adversely affected retail sales, both in the urban and the rural markets".

    Two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today reported 38.65 per cent growth in total sales for August at 2,22,768 units.

    The company's total sales stood at 1,60,666 units in the corresponding month of last year.

    Motorcycle sales jumped by 69.44 per cent to 1,04,316 units in August this year as against 61,562 units in the same month last year, HMSI said in a statement.

    The company reported an increase of 19.52 per cent in its scooter sales to 1,18,452 units from 99,104 units in August 2011, it added.
    4) TVS -> -20.6%

    Two—wheeler major TVS Motor Company on Saturday reported 20.6 per cent dip in sales at 1,54,647 units in August as against the sale of 1,94,898 units during the same month last year..

    Sales of two—wheelers plunged to 1,50,740 units in August 2012 as against 1,90,184 units recorded in the same period of last year, the company said in a statement.

    The company had sold 3,907 units of three—wheelers in August 2012 as against 4,714 units in the corresponding period of previous year.

    The company’s domestic sales witnessed a drop to 1,35,513 units in August 2012 compared with 1,63,705 units in August 2011.

    Sales of motorcycles dipped to 53,673 units in August 2012 from 77,726 units sold in the same period of last year.

    Scooters sales also slumped to 38,193 units in August 2012 as against 52,253 units in the same month of previous year.

    On exports front, the company witnessed a 40.1 per cent slump on its sales at 17,934 units in August 2012 as against 29,984 units in the same month of last year.

    Exports of motorcycle declined by 42.4 per cent at 15,227 units in the month under review as against 26,479 units in August, 2011.
    5) Suzuki -> +36%

    Suzuki Motorcycle India, a subsidiary of one of the world's leading two-wheeler manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corporation, registered a 36 per cent in-crease in their August 2012 sales figures compared to August 2011.

    Suzuki Motorcycle sold 36,524 units in August 2012 as opposed to 26,900 units in August 2011, recording a strong growth in its overall sales. Suzuki Motorcycles has maintained a consistent growth path over the last couple of years.

    Commenting on this strong growth pattern, Suzuki Motorcycle India vice president sales & marketing Atul Gupta said: "We have received a good response from the market for all our products. The growing customer satisfaction has led to positive word-of-mouth in the market. We will continue to give the best to our customers."

    Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

      Suzuki on a whooping 36% increase. Is that 'Hayate' doing wonders??

          Nope, It's more due to Slingshot(in my place), Hayate will take time to initiate its wonders, Swish and GS are demanded but waiting period is long.
          Anyway Suzuki is better than it ever was after their re-entry in to Indian market.

            Bajaj Auto sales drops 10% in August 2012

            Bajaj Auto Ltd has announced the sales figures for the month of August 2012. The company has reported total sales of 344906 vehicles in August 2012 as compared to 382739 vehicles in August 2011, a drop of 10% year-on-year.

            The company has reported sales of 304352 motorcycles in August 2012, a drop of 10% from 338054 vehicles in August 2011. The new Pulsar 200NS and Discover 125 ST sold 7200 and 25000 units respectively in August 2012. The commercial vehicles sales dropped 9% to 40554 vehicles in August 2012 as compared to 44685 in August 2011.

            The exports during August 2012 was down 5% to 131562 vehicles as compared to 138225 vehicles in August 2011. The 3-wheeler exports were 22300 units indicating near normalcy in Srilankan and Egyptian markets.
