KTM has been forced to recall approximately 7,000 motorbikes from a range of its offroad and street vehicles, due to problems with the Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system.
The manufacturer warned that certain models from the 2012/2013 ranges could potentially suffer leaks in the fuel hose due to a defect in the manufacturing processes of the EFI supplier.
Despite issuing the recall, it moved to assure owners by saying there have been no reported incidents relating to this recall so far.
The recall affects its Street 2012 990 Supermoto R EU/FR and its Offroad 2012 250 EXC-F Six Days EU, 250 SX-F EU, 350 EXC-F EU/USA, 350 XCF-W USA, 350 SX-F EU, Freeride 350 EU, 450 EXC EU/AUS and 500 EXC EU/AUS/USA.
From its Offroad 2013 range, the defective part can be found in KTM's 250 XC-F USA, 250 XCF-W USA, 350 EXC-F AUS/USA, 350 XCF-W, 350 XC-F USA, 450 EXC EU/AUS, 450 XC-W USA, 450 XC-F USA, 500 EXC EU/USA, and 500 XC-W USA models.
"KTM very much regrets the resulting inconvenience to its customers concerning this recall," it said. Fuel lines will be replaced by specially-trained authorised KTM dealers.
