  • TVS to remain below 150cc

Guys I read in an article that TVS are going to remain below 150cc in near future.
    Here are the links
Sending a positive note in the new year, TVS Motor Com-pany Ltd., on Monday said that it has set itself an internal target wherein it will sell 1.4 million two wheelers in 2004-05.

Two wheeler major, TVS Motor Company (TVS-M) is eyeing a larger pie in the popular or the executive segment of motorcycles by launching a new 100-cc 4-stroke TVS Centra on Monday.

hmm...they just said tht the bikes tht will be manufactured in the near future will be below 150cc.

but they didnt say anything abt the power output of the bikes.

so u can expect a 150cc bike producing around 18-20 bhp.

this is just my theory, so dont take it seriously.

            Q. Why dont companies want higher capacity engines for their bikes ?

            A. Because www.xbhp.com has only 1600+ members and not 16,00,000 members. I hope u people get what I mean....

But big bikes are not supposed to get numbers!..anyone got any idea how much karizma sells per month ? would be 1/10th of the number of splendors sold i guess.but STILL ITS A SUCESS ... high price*low volumes = Low price*high volumes....

karishma is not a big bike,i'm talking bout the big multi's.atleast 400cc and 2 cylinders and 40 bhp+.they won't make them here and importing is not fesable till some volume is achieved.

Ok..but i was talking in context of scenario rite now that is Sub 250 CC segment..i think kinetic/TVS/Yam/bajaj should take the plunge and put in products in 200-250 cc segment....

With big bikes (read 150cc+ bikes) not doing high volumes its no wonder that TVS is hesitant to invest its money into the segment... if u see the market there are only handful of 150cc+ bikes... like Kinetic 170, Pulsar, Karizma... and they dont do high volumes to justify the investment... bajaj has been innovative by using a common platform for both 150 and 180... so even if the 180 doesnt sell in volumes their investment is worth it as the 150 sells well... I think other companies can also use similar approach..

well as i see it TVS haas always be a commuter biking company that makes more fuel effefient bikes than power hungery monsters[V] and that coud be a down fall..as the newer generation {most of it} looks for power aswell in a bike as fuel effeciency!!!...ans what i see in the stratergies of the tvs i believe that they plan to cater to the needs of the dying breed rather than the rising ones..much like us..though it was rumoured that they were developing a 150cc engine.......for all those TVS fans ..i hope its true

TVS will not be able to maufaacture the bike above 150 cc(150 cc bike engine was made by Suzuki) as they dont have the technology. They have not implemented a fifth gear in the last 2 years not in their 150 cc or 125 cc new victor , when all the competetors in 125 cc or 150 cc have 5 speed gear box in their machines.
