Contrary to most other Indian manufacturers, Bajaj Auto is focusing on motorcycles, especially the commuter segment. TVS and Yamaha are openly targeting the scooter segment, while neglecting the motorcycle market this year. Honda the front runner in the scooter market is hoping to increase its market share by improving delivery time. Mahindra who are already in the scooter market are going to target the commuter segment with the Pantero and Centuro.
Bajaj is expecting the Discover 100T to be the frontrunner in capturing the A3 segment. Currently the A segment controls a formidable 65% market share. In the A class, the A3 class is the fastest growing. It has grown from 12% to 20% in the last 5 years. People now want a commuter bike with the features of a B and C segment bikes.
