As far as I remember, all speculation ever since the beginning has always hinted towards March/April 2013 launch for the Duke 390. Those dates are yet to come. The launch was never pushed anywhere ever since the unveil 3 months back. I feel that we have been especially cynical on this particular thread. There is a lot more enthusiasm than this on the Honda 400/500 thread which don't even have a rumor of coming to India.Originally posted by nitrosatya View PostExactly! The only reason for the cynicism I see is that most members expected the full faired bike to be a 3xx cc and not a 250. We already have 3 250s in the market. But we must never forget that the biggest beneficiary of competition is the customer!Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

well whatever the speculation be, RC25 would be a good bike, specially knowing the grunt the engine has of the current Duke, the 250 should be more aggressive and fun to ride

Its just that this topic has been discussed infinite number of times . For more than a year it has been speculated and then confirmed that there will be a DUKE 390 coming after the 200. And also a faired duke will make its way. So there is nothing new and unheard about this news. Hence there is very less interest in this news.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostI feel that we have been especially cynical on this particular thread. On the other hand, the Honda 400/500 thread has so much enthusiasm is because the topic was very rarely discussed and it was a straight 'confirmed' news with 'Pictures' of the bikes. There was no speculation or discussion done on it for years.
Once the pictures come out , you will see the enthusiasm on this thread too.

Whoa...the quarter litre segment is getting hotter and hotter...more competetion will benefit the customers.
I agree with the same. Have been hearing about R250 since long time...so untill its actually launched in India, no comments.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostSo is the new policy "I won't give any reaction till I see one on the showroom floor." ? Fair enough..Siddhartha

Check this video : Link
In this video Mr Rajiv Bajaj speaks to CNBC after Mr Stefan has taken over Husky. While talking about the future Mr Bajaj has slipped for a moment and mentioned 250 cc bike. Immediately he stoped and continued with 390. So i think after 390 its turn of there will be a 250 cc engine bike which probably is the RC25.
Regarding faired 390 check this link and where its clearly mentioned that faired versions of D290 and D390 will be launched. So i think we just need to have patience say 12-18 months. Remember Mr. Stefan saying new KTM model every 6 months.....?

Looks like SuperDuke 1290 Effect, Report talks about a 1.3 L motor on RC8 R?, when the cap for that class is 1.2 L!
ok It s better to have an RC4 than an RC25. RC4 is meaningful as well (in terms of how they derived the name). Just retune the 375 single and done.

Now RC25 is official: KTM and Bajaj announced it will be launched early 2014
Source : Autocar
Austrian marque KTM, along with Indian part-owner Bajaj who have a 47.18 percent stake in the company, are set to make three new additions to its Indian line-up.
The much awaited 390 Duke is slated for a mid-2013 launch while KTM and Bajaj have now announced that a Moto3-inspired small-capacity sportsbike will reach India sometime early in 2014.

As i mentioned elsewhere, the KTM moto3 bike is limited edition, comes with some of the top shelf kit actually used in moto3 and will cost 35000 GBP (nearly 30 Lakhs). There is NO CHANCE that bike will come to india. I'm not refuting that KTM might bring a quarter liter faired bike here, but it will NOT be the moto3 derived bike.Originally posted by s_hari View PostSource : Autocar

^^ This is not news about a Moto3 bike, but a 250cc Fully Faired Sports bike for India and other similar markets.
The Moto3 bike which you mention is whole different ball game all together, it will sold to teams interested in racing with a big budget, not for individuals.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Does that a mean a Pulsar 250 is on the cards as well? If so, competition needs to be worried a lot!Originally posted by s_hari View PostSource : Autocar

KTM will also have its thoroughbred track-focused RC8 motorcycle on display in showrooms March 2013 onwards, but it isn’t clear as to when this motorcycle will go on sale.
KTM’s 200 Duke has been a runaway success for the company, selling 8,500 units in India last year and making a key contribution to its global presence. The company has 70 dealerships – the highest among premium motorcycle brands – in the country today.
Atleast now Xbhpians can cheer up as the news is official with approximate launch time details.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

Well, i thought it was about the moto3 bike because the news article said "moto3 inspired". The only moto3 inspired KTM on the cards as of now is the ultra premium one. Sure there may be some 250cc faired KTM coming to india but you can be assured it's not the moto3 inspired version.Originally posted by The Monk View Post^^ This is not news about a Moto3 bike, but a 250cc Fully Faired Sports bike for India and other similar markets.

And the moto3 bike that i mentioned isn't strictly for teams but as you pointed out (and i agree that) it would end up being bought by moto3 teams for extensive testing. They make 10% less power, have more weight, come with road legal exhaust and rev 1.5k less than the real moto3 bike.
I'm sure competitors will find a way to fight back as wellOriginally posted by sambit View PostGo hell with the competitors. We are happy,.....

I said it will be bought by race teams, not necessarily by Moto 3 teams who anyways can buy the real race bike, but teams who will be shifting to 250cc 4 Stroke bikes as the entry level racing series the world over. Currently 125cc 2 stroke bikes are used, but the idea is to streamline it so that everybody uses 250cc 4 strokes.Originally posted by dishayu View PostWell, i thought it was about the moto3 bike because the news article said "moto3 inspired".
