Hero Eco has sold 8000-9000 units of A2B bike in 22 countries. The bike is being showcased at the Bicycle Expo in Ludhiana at a price of Rs 1.50 Lakh.
This bike is being launched with an urban audience in mind, but would India be ready for a bike such as this, with such a price-tag? The bike is made of alloys and hosts an inbuilt lithium ion battery with a range of around 70 km. The battery takes around 3-4 hours for a full re-charge. The bike is also equipped with pedals. It boasts regenerative braking system, which activates the charging system as and when left on idle.
The company expects the demand for these bikes to be around 1000 units per annum. The Europe production is expected to begin in 2014-15, while currently it is being produced in Taiwan.
