Sad to see 39% people having said that they would delay there purchase. I liked antz's point where he thinks that this move would only consolidate these manufacturers in India, but Antz, only time can tell if they'll stay or the govt will be happier without them."When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return." ~ Leonardo da Vinci

bought 2010 fireblade.
After too much of thought process , I finally bought 2010 model cbr1000rr.
New one post budget price was 15.4 lacs on road delhi , after the budget price might be 17.25 approx.
I am getting older and older (29 now ) and i don't think i can save that much to spend 15+ lacs on a bike.
For new buyer , daytona 675 only looks the best bet but logically it won't come below 9 lacs.

I know i am one of them. Not that the litre bikes were my priority anyway. Its good that Honda, KTM and Bajaj are considering India as an export hub for future big bikes starting with the 400cc market. Hopefully Suzuki and Yamaha will follow them. The 400cc segment will be the measuring gauge for these brands to think of India as an exporting hub for 600+cc segment bikes. The better the reception, the greater the possibility.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post
Ultimately, most of the litre class seekers (the money savers) may end up getting themselves a Daytona 675, probably because that will come first, and with a price tag intended to capture the market.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

I feel its not going to make much difference at all.
A set of tyres cost 25k upwards, and you need to change them every year if you dont push the bike. My cousin on his R1 has to change them after 2000 kms if he has been to a trackday.
On top of that pretty much every routine replacement part is going to have at least 4 digits in its cost.
Then there is the case of a crash. Its a 2 wheeler so it WILL fall at some point. A friend dropped his FZ1 when stationary and the bill was 5 digit.
Anyone who can afford these costs can afford the bumped up price as well.
According to the bean counters, sbks are pure enthusiast tools having no other purpose and no one ever has a 'need' for them. They go in the same category as art. That's a rational idea on their part. Very sad though.
The situation will change if an Indian company starts making roughly comparable bikes, or the sbks start being produced in India. That means this country has to compete with all the countries in the region to get manufacturers to set their base here. There is not enough market worldwide for all the sbk companies to set factories in multiple countries. Anyone can guess how this will turn out.
Waiting for Triumph.
Hope that leads the way for others.
CheersAbhishek
