  • 2014 BMW R1200RT Spied testing in France

The bike which is expected to be launched in 2014 was seen being tested in the South of France. It will use the same engine as seen on the new BMW R1200GS.

Four bikes were seen being tested for real world performance. The bikes were spied, but ironically the bikes were decked up in a funny set of colours that it seemed like BMW wanted the bike to be spied!

The paint scheme that these bikes sported was an amusing mix of black and white, making the bikes stand out like whale in a desert!

We can see from the images they bike has the new engine from the GS along with the swingarm and shaft drive unchanged. The exhaust has a different silencer to the GS but this may not be the fully-finished production version.

The front shots show the bikes have fitted, at least as an option, the adaptive headlights from the BMW K1600GT model which adjust the level and actually tilt with the bike as it corners to give a longer view up the road while the bike is leant over.

The front fairing is modified too with new plastics around the new lights. The side panels have new air-ducts which are sited next to the new twin radiators which are now an integral part of the cooling of the new engine.

Nice! gets the new 1200 Boxer engine from the GS, and bits from the 1600GT. Bring it on BMW! Haroon must be smiling wide here

Love it already! Though a used 3-series won't be too far from this tourer's expected pricetag.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

          Mehul....please spare me bhai
I am actually wondering how much more is BMW going to add to an already marvelous bike. The boxer engine hates to be stuck in crawling traffic, which I am hoping the Liquid Cooling may take care of! Otherwise from the looks, the adaptive headlight from the 1600GT will sure be a big boon.

Guess its time for another Alps ride with a rented new RT
