  • Bajaj Auto launches the new Pulsar NS200 and NS160

Bajaj Auto has relaunched two variants of its Naked Sports motorcycle brand – the Pulsar NS series. The new Pulsar NS200 and Pulsar NS160 now come with more aggressive and muscular styling, apart from new features to aid better handling and enable higher safety.

The segment-first upside-down forks on both bikes allow fast cornering and agile handling – so critical for naked sports bikes – and make the bikes look beefier and more attention-grabbing. Add to that a perimeter frame for high stiffness and low flex, providing the sharpest handling experience and the confidence to conquer every turn. The display console now has a gear position indicator, so riders aren’t unsure of their gears and can maximise track racing and street riding. Apart from that, the infinity display – a signature of the new Pulsars – have a distance-to-empty readout, instantaneous fuel economy and average fuel economy.

Bajaj Auto’s patented Triple Spark DTS-i 4V engine produces the best-in-class power of 18 kW (24.5 PS) and 18.74 Nm of torque in the NS200 model. Since the new design has shaved off about 1.5 kgs from the NS200, it delivers a class-leading power-to-weight ratio and is expected to be a cracker in drag races that the NS series is known to rule. The advanced liquid cooling system ensures thrilling performance at high temperatures and speeds. The NS200 has a 6-speed gearbox to deliver greater power at the higher RPMs and keep the adrenaline flowing!

Both bikes come equipped with dual-channel ABS, so the thrill of sports biking comes with the promise of best-in-class stopping power and ultra-safe braking on any surface, thanks to the massive 300 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc brakes. (The dual-channel ABS technology prevents wheels from locking and ensures the bike doesn’t skid on any surface.) The brakes of NS160 have been made bigger than their previous version. In addition to this, the NS160 sports wider front and rear tyres (100/80-17 F, 130/70-17 R), to give better stability & control with wider tyres avoiding slippage in wet & extreme conditions.

Pulsar NS200 and NS160 have been redesigned to enhance the aggressive, muscular styling the NS series is known for. The riding stance is forward-biased and fully engages the rider in the thrill of riding an NS bike on the track and the streets. A piercing blade-like speed line embodies the sporty character of this bike, and touches of black chrome, grey and carbon fibre give the contours of this naked beast a sinewy, speedy look.

Talking about the upgrades, Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director – Bajaj Auto Ltd., said, “The NS series is a favourite of sports motorcycling enthusiasts in many countries of Latin America and Asia, and with every new Pulsar, they expect that we will raise the bar on both style and performance. And that is exactly what we have done with the new Pulsar NS200 and the NS160. These bikes are not just gorgeous-looking machines but also pack a mean punch in performance. Both are feisty street fighters that enhance the Pulsar badge and are loaded to the brim with new and advanced features, and we are glad to present motorcycling enthusiasts with this brilliant upgrade.”

The Pulsar NS200 is attractively priced at ₹1,47,347 (ex-showroom Delhi) and the Pulsar NS160 is priced at ₹1,34,675 (ex-showroom Delhi). Both models will be available in 4 colours – Metallic Pearl White, Glossy Ebony Black, Satin Red, and Pewter Grey.
