The name brings back memories of the Monster 620 Dark from the early 2000s, one of the most accessible versions in the range, which introduced thousands of riders to the Ducati world, including a large number of female motorcyclists. The new Monster Dark features black wheels, a single-fabric seat and several deliberately unpainted elements, including the front frame, exhaust end caps and intake snorkel. These details highlight the mechanical character of Ducati's naked bike.
The technical package is based on the latest Monster, powered by Ducati's 890 cc V2 engine featuring IVT variable intake valve timing. Maximum output is 111 hp at 9,000 rpm, with peak torque of 91.1 Nm at 7,250 rpm. Valve clearance checks are scheduled every 45,000 km. The chassis features an aluminium monocoque frame, Showa suspension and Brembo braking system with M4.32 calipers. Kerb weight without fuel is 175 kg. The electronics package includes a six-axis inertial measurement unit, Cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control and four Riding Modes: Sport, Road, Urban and Wet. A 35 kW version for A2 licence holders will also be available.
