
Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. has registered a growth of 34% in sales during May 2013 as compared to the corresponding period last year. The company sold 34,104 units in May 2013 as against 26,287 units sold in May last year in the domestic market. In the Export markets the company sold 15,356 units in May 2013 as compared to 10,669 units in the same month last year achieving a growth of 44%. The overall sales stood at 49,460 units in May 2013 while 36,956 units were sold in May 2012, thereby registering a 34% overall growth.
TVS Motor Company reported a 6.17% decline in total sales in May 2013. The sales stood at 165151 units as compared to 173092 units in the corresponding period in 2012.Two wheeler sales fell by 8%. Scooter sales were the worst effected, but motorcycle sales increased by 3.85 %.
HMSI: Up by 3%
Two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today reported three per cent growth in its total sales for May 2013 at 2,29,006 units. The company’s total sales stood at 2,21,549 units in the corresponding month last year. Motorcycle sales declined by four per cent to 91,283 units in May 2013 from 95,423 units in May 2012, HMSI said in a statement.
The company reported an increase of nine per cent in its scooter sales at 1,37,723 units from 1,26,126 units in May 2012, it said.
Hero : Flat
The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorpon Monday reported a marginal increase in its total sales at 5,57,890 units for May this year. In the same month last year, it had sold 5,56,644 units, Hero MotoCorp said in a statement.
Hero MotoCorp Senior Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Anil Dua said: "The demand momentum that we had seen on our product range in April continued in May as well, helping us achieve over 1.1 million retail sales in the two-month period.
"This retail off-take has been helped by our star brands, our new product range as also the recently-introduced five-year warranty on our entire portfolio." He added that going forward, with forecast of a normal monsoon, the company expects sentiments to be good, thus helping it sustain the current momentum.
