to all those wanting/expecting a 125cc ish scoot launch >> 125cc + scoots would not be a money making idea for honda in the indian market. the people who generally buy scooters look for a good mileage, less maintenance and start stop go usability and some amount of utility thrown in.
This is just a redesigned (looks wise) activa with a similar engine as the existing scoot range from hmsi.. makes perfect sense for them to invest lesser in R&D which in turn reflects in lower costs for producing a 'new' model and at the same time giving more 'choice' to the customer (customer as in 'Indian market/mindset')
if bajaj can have n number of discovers.. and hero n number of splendors.. why not honda with n number or activa variations..
the activa is the most successful gear-less scoot the Indian market has seen and i see no reason why honda would offer a 125 or 150 scoot when its obvious that the masses will prefer a 110 that costs lower to buy and maintain and not many care about 'pickup top speed' from a gear-less scoot. And also this scoot seems a nice fit between the current activa and the dio, in the lines that it would be more easier for women to ride this than the current 'bulky-ish' activa.
this is a smart move from honda with minimal investment to put a dent on the sales of scoots from yamaha, tvs, suzuki etc...
why fix it when it aint broken
