      Dukers,
What is the Difference between a ROTOR pump and EATON Pump.
      Found the difference when I compared D200 & D390.
I hope it is an advantage.
      Appreciate your thoughts.
      Thanks in advance.

on another note, i went to KTM indiranagar last evening to see the bike in flesh. Hard 200 and 390 one after the other. the 390 does sound a bit louder, however the guy there did not let the engine rev high. Did ask about the probable delivery and was told that first batch may be expected towards starting of august. Hoping its sooner.
I liked the orange trellis and alloys, but the overall appeal (specially the decals) did not impress me much. Infact, i like the orange tank and simpler stickering on the 200 better. Was wondering how the 390 would look without those decals with photoshop. still not sure!
MG suggested in one post few days ago that the mileage might not be very high, at least on highway. We'll find out soon...

I agree with you. I've been looking at photos of D200 and D390 side by side for a long time, and trying to imagine D390 looks came out first and D200 looks were the new ones. And while D390 doesn't look bad it feels a bit kitchy or not so serious with those orange alloys. D200 has a more serious looks with orange tank and everything else black. I think they could have designed D390 looks better...

Anyways I have been following the launch and have researched for all the information regarding the 390 and believe this would be a worthy upgrade from my 2009 Pulsar 200 DTSi. Earlier I was awaiting the Pulsar 375 but Duke 390 has forced me to change my mind and go for it. Now time has come to straighten up my finances..
Nobody's being aggressive. We're all mature bikers here...
I think it's only that it's easy to mix up power vs power delivery. Nobody said D390 is weaker than D200, heck, 5 sec for 0-100 kmh vs 9 sec for 0-100 kmh is a huge difference!
It's just that D390 delivers power in a less aggressive way than D200 due to its weaker low end and stronger high end engine tune and also taller gears. All that discussion was about HOW D390 delivers power, not if it has enough power or not.
        But yeah, enough about it.
Looking forward for some official reviews!

@guys who had test ride - did you feel any vibrations? Initial reviews from Austria mentioned there are more vibs than D200...

Yes a healthy discussion is always appreciable as it provides a lot of info for noobs like me but it seemed like it was getting on the wrong note glad to hear the various point of views.
It has helped me immensely to finalize for THE DUKE 390.

                Dukers,
I am really sorry for this post. Being a Duker I am really proud of my D200, when it is compared with the other bikes of its class or even with others(like R15 & CBR 250), but the reviews what I am looking in the thread comparing D200 to D390, I felt very bad. You are the guys who are real fans of D200 when it was launched and it is the bike which turned many heads on the road. I am not letting you to stop comparing D200 with D390, compare the Bikes which are closer to their respective Specs. Both D200 & D390 are legends in their own zones of performance.
I am afraid that this thread is becoming much like an arguing section instead of providing some good & healthy info in terms of technology and Support.

                Hope you guys understand.

Take it easy man...both these bikes are almost the same except for the engine. So comparisons are obvious. They are just informing that the D200 is a wild bike, meant to be ridden hard, where as the D390 feels mellowed down in lower rpms but has good top end speed.

If you want to be under the impression that D200 and D390 feel the same, you are wrong my friend. Apart from looking simialr they are quite different from each other in the way they make power.

I never tried to imply that the riders (like yourself) were under any *influence* while taking the 390's test ride, and neither did I say that you were making it up. I just said that I felt that the relaxed nature of 390 (compared to 200) is being mistaken for the lack of low end torque. There's difference between the two. I don't think this is bad enough to offend anyone here.

Also, I never said that 390 and 200 would feel the same. I am continuously mentioning that, in other words, apart from physical dimensions both motorcycles behave differently.

Agree with you on the rest.

Okay so I took the test ride today and boy was it fun!

                        Round 1 - Unsafe Release

Started up the bike and the exhaust note is deep and audible at idle with Helmet on. Started pottering around to leave the parking lot and gave a quick twist to the throttle just to see what it's got and the showroom guy was caught unaware behind me! Almost dropped him and after that he hung on to me throughout the ride (no imaginations boys :P)
                        1. Shifted very quickly from first, can't rid yourself so soon of regular riding habit
                        2. Second gear pulls well and touched about 60 before shifting to 3rd
                        3. And then ran out of road

Took an unusually wide U-turn, guess I need to get used to naked bikes again after my ZMA. Again up to third gear before I got stuck behind a cage. A little scary towards the end when I was at 80 on a wet road with a Cruze right in front of. But brakes were awesome, no slipping/sliding. Inspired confidence.

                        Round 2 - Hooligan

This time around, maxxed out in first gear also but roughly 25-30ish. 2nd till 70 and then 3rd where I think I touched 85 but ran out of road again. I was down to 30ish after braking and then stalled the bike in 3rd gear! And then it wouldn't start with just a press. Tried this three times then showroom guy tried his style. Continuous press for about 5 seconds, then slowly raise the throttle for another 5 seconds and finally the motor came to life. Not sure what this was all about (maybe idling being set low but then it started off fine at the beginning of the ride and the engine would only have gotten hotter).

On the return stretch, I really got revving hard and managed to hit 4th as well but not for long. There were some points where the acceleration spooked me and quick brake action was needed. Honestly as I stepped off the bike, I realized the kind of power I would have on tap and it scared me a little. Need to ride really carefully when I start on this bike.

Also noticed, heavy engine breaking which I remember few people also mentioning on the Duke 200 thread. No news about delivery dates yet but expectation is roughly 20-25th of this month. Don't know if the strike will have a role to play.

My 2 cents on the 200 vs. 390 (I have only taken a test-ride of both vehicles and nothing more) - On the 200 you need to wring the throttle to move fast and hence that sense of speed and urgency. On the 390, before you even wring the throttle fully, you're already at scary speeds. So maybe this is what people are referring to.

As a rider, I am normally part of the slower bunch in a group (normally the sweep) and inclined towards touring than stunting. Not sure if the 390 is really tuned for that purpose, especially the rearsets. My ankles seemed to be uncomfortable even after that short ride. Largely also because I had a pillion and was pushed forward. I booked the bike even before riding it, largely for the power upgrade and because I am desperately in need of a new bike. But it ticks a lot of boxes and rest I'll learn to live with

i guess one thing we should not forget is that the 390 has been designed for the international market, and in other countries with less traffic and people on the road it will be easier to run through the taller gears to use the full power band. i am also an absolute fan of the duke 200s pick up and behavior. i am still waiting for the test drive of the 390, but my feeling is that the gears might be too tall for the day to day indian road scenario- that's why i most probably will change the sprocket soon. i just love how on the duke 200 you can start sliding your back wheel on any bit of dust even in 3rd gear. and i would not want to miss this on the 390. in case the sprocket change will be not enough, then maybe we need an ECU remap....

Has anybody calculated the maintenance part on the bike.. Im not sure if it matters much or not.. But I have heard from one of my close friends who brought duke 200 week ago.. He said that maintenance is very high on 390 comparatively (i.e Tyres, Coolant Oil, Service Charges etc.) are expensive than Duke 200. Any inputs on this from any 390 experienced people here?

Tyres are bound to be more expensive but are very capable. I can bet the maintenance will be cheaper than my notorious ex. .. the Honda cbr 250r with ridiculous spare prices coupled with Unavailability. .. bajaj know better!
