Discover is the worlds largest-selling bike for September 2012
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

And if you read the article carefully, sales from all *Splendor* models have been included when comparing it with all *Discover* models.Originally posted by Satyamzma View PostThese Models use Same Engine..
Edit: The most interesting bit here is that the Discover 125ST is doing more units than the much over-hyped Dream Yuga without a single TV Advert!!Last edited by antz.bin; 10-04-2012, 12:19 PM.Advice is a form of nostalgia.

Bajaj sells three models of Discover, while Hero sells four Splendor models.

That's great news. From what I reckon it's the features of the DISCOVER which led to the overall increase in volumes, coupled with fresh looks. Bajaj did less to revamp the Discover and brewed the old cold coffee once again, and it's steaming all over. Let's see if the coffee gets customers even more more...
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Its not exactly practical to draw conclusions from such a small difference of sales.
But one thing is for sure: Firstly Hero gets separate from Honda, and now they're discontinuing Honda's models too. Now, whatever they are in with EBR, they should hurry it up and bring proper long term products, starting with commuters and premium products later on.---

I don;t think that they will need to introduce completely different products in commuter segment as they have only talked about Impulse,Ignitor & Maestro to discontinue them.Other products might sell with slight change in the name that's it..& as per Hero's tactics over the years, they might not completely change the whole product rather will introduce something new or "fresh look" in the same bike to increase its sales..Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostIts not exactly practical to draw conclusions from such a small difference of sales.

Indeed, more over it's priced well beyond normal crop of commuter motorcycles. For that matter, when was the last time we saw an ad from Bajaj?? must be a long time ago! even P200NS is doing good numbers without single ad on TV. 8500 per month for a bike selling at almost 1 lakh rupees is not bad at all.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostAnd if you read the article carefully, sales from all *Splendor* models have been included when comparing it with all *Discover* models.

Well, the last ad was for Discover 125 itself, but the 2 valve version.. "Chalta nahi daudta hai" ad. The last Pulsar ad was "India's largest selling sports bike Hunto!". But nothing memorable as such. By comparison, the telly is practically filled with Dream Yuga adsOriginally posted by vrugonnab View PostIndeed, more over it's priced well beyond normal crop of commuter motorcycles. Nearly all companies are going away from TV ads.. there is a huge increase in Internet ads. Local newspapers etc are full for ads from bikes. National newspapers show very less bike ads.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostWell, the last ad was for Discover 125 itself, but the 2 valve version.. "Chalta nahi daudta hai" ad. The news is a little biased.. As the international sales of bikes are included. Bajaj exports more bikes than Hero (I think). When you see the Indian Figures.. Hero is still ahead.

Hero, TVS, Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda Motorcycles are definitely not shying away from TV ads. Every new launch gets promoted on TV ads. But I am yet to see Duke / 200NS /125ST
ads on TV.
Nobody argued that Hero is not ahead in India. But there is a certain amount of truth in the title of the thread which is irrefutable.
Hero Moto has been losing sales by over 10% month on month, for the last 3 months. This trend is unlikely to arrest very soon (as per independent analysts).
Back in May'12, Hero sold ~2.3lac units more than BAL. In August '12, Hero sold ~1lac more bikes than BAL did. In September, the difference is down to just 40k. With the brand new 100cc Discover slated for launch next month and Hero's sales trends, I doubt that Hero would be able to hold on to its India lead for too long.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
