    Mahindra 2 wheelers gets international patents for tech innovations: xBhp News

    Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd, recently obtained international patents for its four indigenously developed technologies.

    The four innovations for which patents were received by the company are the fuel gauge system, the automatic ignition cut-off, the distance to empty fuel system, and the engine immobilizer systemViren Popli, Executive Vice President, Mahindra Two Wheelers -

    The engine immobilizer provides an effective anti-theft solution. The distance to empty system along with the fuel gauge system helps the rider estimate the distance the vehicle will cover using the fuel remaining in the tank when it hits reserve. The automatic ignition cut-off intelligently saves fuel during vehicle idling conditions. The engine can be restarted with a blip of the throttle.

    Let's hope they manage to catch up again, in terms of sales... The patents are of use to the company, if they actually spread a good name about the brand. And in India, I feel features have started playing a big role, compared to the earlier decades where reliability was the deciding factor.

      Aren't those techs been employed from over decades then how come mahindra got patent for those ?

                Others can pay royalty if they use Mahindra's systems as-is. They got a patent for incorporating that system in a bike. A car and a bike have varying electricals and hence the patent. If it were plug and play, a few would have tried out DIYs if not the manufacturers.

                  Lol so now if the big guys Honda or Yamaha or the likes of ducati wanna use them then they need to consult mahindra that will be the most weird thing

                    Lol yeah. Early mover advantage. But Yammy/Honda are smart enough. They'll (if they do) incorporate some changes to suit their bikes and avoid the royalty thing altogether.

                        Fuel gauge, range etc are present in bikes already. Probably the specific implementation or the way it's achieved will be different enough to grant a patent.

                            Too early a judgement. In fact centuro has shown good sales. And don't forget its just a start for them. I have met few centuro owners and they are really happy with their bikes.

                              I don't know if this is the right thread to share but I got a chance to see the Mojo yesterday in Nigdi(Pune) testing along with a scooter both camouflaged along with Centuro, looks the same naked 2 round headlamps, 2 silencer on both sides, blue colored meter console, should be 250-300 cc as it was doing 85-90 with my CBR250, silver colored engine, rear disk brake & should be Up Side Down Fork, Monoshock and radiator.
