  • Honda V4 Superbike Patent Pictures: xBhp News

Honda had promised a V4 Superbike, based on its MotoGP RCV in 2012, but there was no news of developments after that, even though the rumour mill has been doing the rounds.

The output can be assumed to be 220 HP at the crank I suppose.

How old is this sketch anyway? It seems like a pre-facelift CBR1000RR with a new engine.

Its great to know that Honda is working on a totally new line of superbikes. Recently European superbikes are taking away the competition from Japs. So this superbike will help Japs to bring in a little equilibrium.

The only target seems to be getting a better package to homologate for the WSBK effort.Hence I think they will just focus on whats under the skin to a higher extent.Even if it doesn't look different from the I-4 cbr its performance will definitely be much better.

All of the international press was waiting for a new Fireblade at the EICMA show last year. Nothing was showcased. Actually the drawings are of the production racer RCV1000 built for satellite teams in MotoGP. A new Fireblade seems highly unlikely. Given the economic slowdown. Even the CB500 series X/F/R is a sure sign of slowdown.

This is the supposed V engine bike from drawings.

Also in 2002 Honda had the production spec RC V5 1000 ready! The championship dominating V5 monster ridden by Valentino Rossi. They also had conducted proper tests for that. Apparently it was too much for the road. And it never got released.

International press says that Honda will be refreshing their Fireblade at some upcoming motor show. Nobody knows for sure. Let's hope for the best!
