  • Bajaj Auto's K Srinivas quits: xBhp News

President (Motorcycle Business) of Bajaj Auto, K Srinivas has quit the Pune based company after working for 15 years. Eric Vas has replaced him in the position.

Eric Vas was earlier the President (Retail Finance) before he took over his new profile from K Srinivas.

Srinivas took charge of the motorcycle business in October 2011 following the resignation of S Sridhar, now CEO of Escorts Agri Machinery. At that point in time, it was Vas who stepped into his role as President (Retail Finance). Srinivas has been part of the core team at Bajaj Auto that has spearheaded the focus on motorcycles and, more specifically, the Pulsar and Discover. The process of change had kicked off in 2009 when the company decided to shift to a brand-centric approach where the Pulsar would be part of the sports segment with the Discover in the commuter category.

Can't say for sure if it would have any impact or not, but I have seen this happening in many companies now. Whenever the top brass sees a change, it affects the companies future products for sometime.
I hope Bajaj stays put on their road-map.

        Ride safe and have fun.

Hope the new president has some sense and decides to launch some scooters to recover from their continuing fall in the market.

It's very difficult for bajaj to get into the scooter market, especially now when Honda has capture the market.

The MD rahul bajaj has no plans to venture into the scooter market now. They consider themselves motorcycle specialists and will continue making motorcycles.

In case you are wondering from where I have this, I heard it from rahul bajaj himself. Where and how? That cannot be disclosed now

Yes you are right, once rahul bajaj also said that they would venture out from this so called 100cc motorcycle market, because margin is very low in this segment, and will only concentrate on 125cc segment, plus they have tried with scooters like krystal, which was total flop.

If they are targeting the commuter segment, they should make scooters. A few days back, they stopped Discover ST. Almost every company is concentrating on scooters now.
Also IMO, they should bring down the no. of models all over and focus more on the quality and marketing of those models. Bringing out a particular model and then deciding to discontinue the same after a while won't boost customer's confidence.

It is better to improve on what you are good at. Bajaj is good at motorcycles. Venturing into the scooter market means taking on scootering giants like honda who have changed the scootering scenario in the country. The other manufacturers also tasted success but none comes close to honda in making and selling scooters. Making a scooter will be quite an uphill task with bajaj as they will have to start from scratch and will involve a lot of R&D.

Honda has single handedly toppled the market, when they entered the market with there Activa in the year 2000, bajaj said that scooter market is neglibible and future is now towards motorcycle, Rahul bajaj even said that we want to become a reckoning force in motorcycle market in the world and not to be known as scooter making company, in a sense they were right because at that time there wasn't any scooter available in the market, bajaj had stopped making chetak ,there one and only scooter which they use to sell, so now to make a scooter which could upset Honda is very very difficult.

But whenever rajiv was saying this rahul was asking to bring back scooters.

                            Read somewhere.

Re introducing chetak will be a nice thing

Even if Bajaj brings his chetak back it will be an uphill task for them to repeat the history, people now are addicted to automatic scooters, most of the scooter riders are ladies, teenagers, or the one who wants ease of riding, plus in cities where the roads are jampacked geraless scooter is like rain in scorching heat.
