I would take that claim with a pinch of salt! 65-70 kmpl mileage when doing 100 kmph consistently seems like a well made up story to me.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostThey said that its an amazing engine, very smooth & predictable in power delivery and the mileage is in range of 65-70 kmpl on the highway, when they were all the time ripping at 100+ kmph.Owns a baby Gixxer starting Jan '15

If the mileage is even 60 in city, I am buying this bike immediately. Sounds too far fetched to be true. Historically, all Yamaha bikes had poorly engineered engines in terms of efficiency. Find this really hard to believe.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostI had a meeting with 9-10 guys in Ajmer who were riding from North to South of India on FZ v 2.0 which has the same engine. This was a Yamaha sponsored ride. After riding for some 1000 kms, do you know what they had to say?
They said that its an amazing engine, very smooth & predictable in power delivery and the mileage is in range of 65-70 kmpl on the highway, when they were all the time ripping at 100+ kmph. Beyond 110 kmph, yes the engine felt like its losing steam, but upto that point they had nothing to complain.Currently without a vehicle. Uber App and Bangalore Metro serving all my travel needs.

65-70 KMPL at 100kmph at which the bike will be at 8-9k RPM! That's hogwash! Any biker worth his salt will know that those rider's have stated over enthusiastic mileage figures.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post

Yamaha bikes are good like heaven. But, this mileage figures are not real world. Mileage is the Achilles heel for Yamaha(though most of the owners hardly mind it). Maybe they were made to claim so as the trip was sponsored by Yamaha itself.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Although, this is a 3+ month old incident, so my memory isn't so sharp. It might have been 60-65, if not 65-70. But it was above 60 for sure.
I wouldn't say its unbelievable.
Fuel injection is known to give about 5-10 percent mileage improvements. And if 150cc carburetted bikes can give 60 kmpl in acceptable riding conditions, then a mileage optimised Fuel injected 153cc motorcycle giving 60-65 in the top gear (even with high speeds) isn't impossible.
And frankly speaking, 100 kmph may be 80-90 kmph too... Who maintains exact speeds, or can maintain exact speeds, even on a highway ride?
Anyways, @viks was one of these riders. He can clarify more on this matter... Viks, can you clarify the exact/ approximate mileage you got during this ride?
Probably, this is what they meant by Blue core.Originally posted by MHG View PostIf the mileage is even 60 in city, I am buying this bike immediately. Sounds too far fetched to be true. And probably they realized that they could use some good mileage changes, to survive in the market?

I don't think Fazer needed these cosmetic upgrades, it already got the looks
. Though fuel injection is a good update, all it need was an 200cc engine.
And that rear mud guard is boon for this bike (it doesn't look cool, but will serve the purpose).Only a bike rider knows why Dog sticks out his face out of car's window...

Excellent write up! Thanks for that.Originally posted by viks View PostRode the fzs fi extensively.
By any chance was this bike tuned for better mileage/power output than the stock ones sold in the market by Yamaha?
I am asking this because even with sane riding, I don't see anyone reporting similar mileage figures/top speed figures on the FZ Fi as you just did.Owns a baby Gixxer starting Jan '15

I believe we achieved that average as we rode on 4 lane highways, no stop n go at all, but noticed one thing, riding it below 50kmph in top gear gave less average compared to riding it at 5k rpm at 66kmphOriginally posted by raintree View PostExcellent write up! Thanks for that.

Re: Yamaha Fazer Fi Launched @ Rs. 83580/-
Thank You for the honest opinion. Really appreciate your work .
Considering my body weight (80 kgs) , I am straight away cutting down 10 kmpl from mileage point of view & 10 kmph from top speed. still I am atleast left with 50 kmpl & 110 kmph .
Now , considering touring , I would say these are pretty impressive figures.
I want to upgrade from a Yamaha Gladiator and am keen towards going for the fazer Fi this time. Yamaha users will always have the blind trust on Yamaha quality. I will still wish , the Fazer fi had the R15 engine , but considering Yamaha , its not what Bajaj does - manufacturing a single engine , putting it in different bikes. Yamaha designs specific engines for specific purpose. And ofcourse , touring doesn't need a high compression high performance engine as we are not racing with the engine. Hence a flat torque curve is what will make a bike a good commuter & tourer. And considering Indian roads , I would not like to risk my life above 100 kmph even on excellent highways.
The need of fuel injection (closed loop) is mandatory to me as I know how carbs fail in higher altitudes after an Ooty ride.
I think I will go for this bike by the end of this year
Thanks again

Re: Yamaha Fazer Fi Launched @ Rs. 83580/-
Hi Guys..!!!!
I'm a new comer in xFlo | xBhp.com - India's Most Popular Motorcycling/Biker's Community | India's First Motorcycling Biking Lifestyle Magazine .
I bought my darling (Fazer FI) on 10th Feb' 2015 & only 1300 Kms ride in two months. 1st service done at 371Km & i'll go for 2nd service on 15th April' 2015.
Drive my baby on highway for maximum times & she gave me above 50kmpl mileage figure till now. Will it increase after 2nd & 3rd service ??
I reached maximum speed of 107km/h on my baby after 1st servicing. Can it harmful for engine ??
Please suggest me guys ...
It's my first bike in my life ...
Please reply me guys..
