But initial reactions are that the bike is good. Very good. Better than what the competition offers. It is also extremely smooth. Not Honda smooth ofcourse, but much smoother than other Indian manufacturers. Also, to be noted is that this bike has been designed in house within a very short time span.
Anand Mahindra was present at the unveiling, and with a man like that leading the way, surely the company is going to grow in leaps and bounds. His statements showed clarity of thought and direction. Whether you consider the 5 year warranty or the announcement of 10 launches in the next two and a half years. The Mojo is also going to be launched within this fiscal. He also admitted to having made mistakes in the past and having learnt from those mistakes. That was in reference to the Stallio. On the ground, the response has been towards Mahindra Motorcycles as a whole has been quite satisfactory.
In this day and age there is no guarantee which motorcycle will flop or be a hit. But the direction that Mahindra is taking is extremely promising. If a prospective buyer takes back to back test rides on the Centuro and its competitors, chances are very high that he might select the Centuro, barring brand loyalty.
The intentions of the company are clear, they want to launch a bevy of motorcycles in a variety of segments, to make a mark for themselves.
Anoop Mathur, President of Mahindra 2 wheelers said that the Centuro is customer inspired and the idea is not to sell a fixed number of units, but to create a stickiness in the mind of the customer/ market. There will be new offerings at regular intervals he added. Significant investment has been made in hardware and software in the R&D for this motorcycle.
The bike has been built with complete in house R&D. The factory has been upgraded to world class fascilities from earlier, which was very basic. Organisation front end has been redesigned to better understand customers needs and to service their requirements. 10 new products in the next 2.5 years across the range. Mahindra Rise signifies an alternative thinking and accepting change.
Anand Mahindra said that the Centuro is a product confluence of customer feedback, innovation and engineering. This is an entrepreneurial journey for Mahindra. People are skeptical of Mahindra entering the two wheeler market. But the company is unconventional and therefore it will succeed. Hunger and ambition is the real DNA of Mahindra. Launch in Rajasthan because the state is very good for Mahindra. All successful business models don't come from Harvard. Indian still have a colonised mindset where we do not have faith in ourselves. This needs to be changed. Mahndra leads that change.
Anoop Mathur - Mojo is being worked upon very hard. It will be launched in this fiscal. Women's scooter being planned as well. Rodeo is being sold in good numbers to women. 100 panteros being sold daily. All by word of mouth. Offroaders will be launched sometime in the distant future. Only one variant of Centuro.
