      Date Hero HMSI Delta
      Feb-14 504181 228444 275737
      Mar-14 524028 392148 131880
      May-14 602481 355726 246755
      Jun-14 503600 306580 197020
      Aug-14 558609 388210 170399
      Nov-14 547413 372036 175377
Above is the data from threads at xbhp. See how the delta has steadily reduced. As I said, between scooters & bikes, HMSI is catching up. Of course one big hit on the part of Hero could reverse the trend.

Hero is still way ahead in terms of numbers. HMSI has a lot of catching up to do.

An important point to note is, these figures are factory dispatches to the dealers, i.e., these are wholesale figures, and NOT actual retail figures.

Average difference between their sales figure is still 200000(approx) units which is not small by any means. Don't forget the fact that a lot of hero products are lined up which includes scooters also.

The Honda Dream series has not clicked in a big way that Honda expected. It is not surprising because the Dream series likes a scaled-down version of the Shine, and I don't understand why the family look is maintained. What I mean is that Yuga-Neo-CD110 look so similar while Dawn-Deluxe-Splendor-Passion look so different from each other. One would rather expect Honda to launch different looks for each model despite the "Dream" series umbrella or come up with a break-through bike like Splendor. Only then Honda can close that 2-lakh margin.

In some areas (read scooters) Honda has been struggling to meet the demand. With new factories coming up (2016 I guess), they may grow faster.

Also in the bike segment, Honda has been trying to break the hold of Splendor on 100cc segment but haven't been successful. However, they have made good inroads in the 125cc segment where Shine is selling well.
One of their hopes may be the the aspirational segment moving to 125cc from 100cc. For that to happen they need to get the price differential between the two as low as possible.

However, like I said earlier, a new hit product from Hero could reverse the tread. Hero is still quite well respected in small towns and rural areas.

Dont jump to conclusion without facts. Suzuki also has laggards like zeus, hayate that are not doing good. Scooters is bringing in sales for almost all the manufacturers except Bajaj and RE. Yamaha's Ray and Alpha series are doing good.

Good morning. Its 2014 not 2013. Dont know why you are pulling zeus and hayate into equation which are almost dead from past 1 year...?? I am talking about present situation of suzuki. So please correct yourself first and then post because at present access and lets sales are going down month after month and gixxer is covering it.
