Why do these manufacturers compare past month sales with respective month of past year?

Monthly growth comparison makes much sense, doesn't it.

In corporate world, everything works around year on year (YoY) figures than on monthly basis. Growth, market share, profit/loss are all calculated yearly.

I would be surprised to see Honda report any growth at all with the current issue of reaching full production capacity. Don't know how the new FZ series are doing but the scooter sales should make up for it.

Yes nowdays even prospective 150cc buyer are going for RE products because of their Uniqueness & Bold image. Also new age 350cc models are giving same fuel efficiency as normal 150 cc bikes which is an added benefit.

Well said bro...Who doesnt want to be a stand-out in the crowd. I hope the royal brand image of RE doesnt vanish after such long legacy. No offense, But I guess thats bound to happen soon since we see enormous numbers of RE on the road nowadays.

If you ask me, it's like a tipping point in case of RE scenario. People always wanted to own an RE, somehow held themselves back for several years. Recent economic-growth(quick-problem-solving-capability) and transit of funds/cash enabled them to plunge into buying; the domino effect. RE will be solely responsible for what follows.
