  • Royal Enfields to be Made in Britain Again.

India's iconic motorcycle brand Royal Enfield to open factory in Leicestershire

    Cheers!
    VJ
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

I am guessing the one in UK is a technology center not manufacturing facility, because that's like counter to off-shoring model followed these days.

So, if it is manufactured in UK, Then the pricing around the EU will be less which will definitely increase the sales of RE across.

I think I read on Visordown that it's going to be both.

A manufacturing facility and a technology center. Manufacturing locally in UK will keep costs down, while the R&D facility will help them sell the bikes by badging them as "Designed in Britain". I'll try to post a link to the article so you may have a look. Scratch that, here's the link:

        Cheers! ✌

LOL! Leicester is half India, it would be popular there no doubt.

Having lived near Leicester for a good three years, I would say it is fully India. Pan spits on the road, plastic covers flying around and much more

Don't hit me for this guys, but RE is NOT an Indian brand. RE (India) is just the Indian arm of Enfield Cycle Co. Ltd. RE shut shop in the UK in 1970 and is restarting ops now. Hero Honda was Hero + Honda. But Honda was never an Indian brand.

                  Peace!

I also somehow feel that it's sort of homecoming for RE rather than an international expansion.

Partially correct. We can say ORIGINALLY RE is not Indian brand or can say the inception happened in Britain but since 1970 a completely Indian.

As if the Europeans care about how much their bikes cost in the first place?

                        No sir, they dont.

For RE to be manufacturing in UK means it probably should be totally new specs meant for EU market, else if it was just making bigger bullets then how can they ever beat India prices?
