KTM Unveils Duke 250 & RC 250 at Tokyo - Producing 31 PS Of Power

Both naked Duke 250 and faired track oriented RC 250 is featured with new 250cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine. The engine is not a bored out 200cc KTM engine that is being used in the current Duke and RC series bikes, rather than it is actually a 373.2cc engine milled for 250 cubic capacity with all existing features of current breed of 373.2cc engine along with ABS. The 250cc engine is said to produce impressive 31 Ps of power at 9000 Rpm and a torque figure of 24 Nm at 7250 Rpm. The new engine helps the bike to attain best in class Power to weight ratio.

IMO a logical replacement for exiting 200cc Duke and RC in 2 years time. Very good indeed KTM!

This is a really good news! I have a Pulsar 150 for 8 years now and am planning to upgrade. I liked the KTM more because of its insane nature but my brain always says that 50cc is not that much of an upgrade. CBR is better than that. Try as I might, i could not justify the 1.5L for just 50cc (although yes, you should take into account the whole package but still). Duke 390 is out of my budget.

Now this Duke 250 hits the sweet spot perfectly!

This was launched for the Japanese market. I don't think it will be launched in India.

Its going to be built in India. They might as well discontinue the 200.

Hope to see the third musketeer in India ! Considering ktm's pricingerformance proposition, it would definitely be a success.
                    R25 anyone ?

It would have been so much more pleasing had it been a twin pot. I had been dreaming of an RC 250 with ABS, USDs, metzelers, a15ltr fuel tank, slipper clucth and a smooth twin cylinder engine for quite a while. Priced anywhere around the 2.5 lakh mark would have almost killed off any competition currently available.
This news was so sudden and out of the blue. When I read the title, i was wishing so hard that it be a twin cylinder. Which was a hope against hope considering their flagship RC8 just manages with 2 cylinders.

They are generating much more power than twin cylinders in such compact form, doing a twin would be like going back a step.
