Online shopping is convenient for many, who hesitate actually entering a showroom, are nervous about a part of it, or can't find the time for it. Plus, online shopping is the least intrusive form of window shopping. Its possible that many guys just decided to own a motorcycle, only after seeing it online on Snapdeal, and they had no plans earlier...

So, its not much of a surprise that this business model is a success. I did expect more out of it though. For a maker like Hero, 1 lakh is not that much.

But what's actually funny is, in case of shopping motorcycles online, nothing else changes, except that:-

In normal showroom, you show your interest (as in, "I need a motorcycle, kindly help me own one..")
In online shopping, you show your attitude (as in, "I need a motorcycle, you showroom guys come after me!")

This is absolutely unbelievable news. So surprising to see such amount of consumer's faith in online transaction for road legal vehicles.

Now, after seeing success of online model, Hero is coming up with a dedicated e-commerce website for it's products sale by year end.

Now, that's a real surprising to me to be honest! Personally I'd never ever buy a bike online. For me, the man-machine touch is missing. Good figures nevertheless!

This is really surprising and goes to show how the indian consumers think of a bike. It is a commodity for most and add to that that there is no great experience ever in any of our bike dealerships when one walks in for checking out a new bike, so it works, good.
It's the dealers who now have to take notice.

I'm happy to see this. I was at a dealership today and the guys there were like "why do you even need a bike?" pointing at my damaged leg. Asking why they need a bike and inquiring if they had injury from accident is not a way to treat customers.
                I am back!
