He also said that company is also developing tyres with a joint venture of BMW for two-wheelers and will be rolled out soon.

    P.Vijayaraghavan, Director, TVS Srichakra said:
"We will be investing Rs.150 crore this year to expand our capacity to 2.3 million tyres per month from the current two million tyres per month and funding will be a mix of debt and internal accruals."
Earlier TVS has also signed a deal with BMW in 2013 to jointly develop motorcycles in the 250-500cc range to be sold through their respective distribution network.

Currently 87 % of the company's sales comes from two-wheelers and remaining from off-road vehicles like tractors, agriculture implements, and forklifts.

Now we can be sure that the bikes will come with ABS that can't be switched off.

Holy mother of Skids, Thats a scary news indeed...
Even the optimist within me seems to die here.
I seriously want BMW to make thorough observations before handing this to TVS. I can trust them with each and every other component of the bike, but the tires.

thats a good news, coz atleast it means that we are getting a 250-300 CC BMW bikes.

and there is no point in cursing a tyre manufacturer, a simple case is eurogrips on pulsars, a lot of ppl blame eurogrip for pathetic grip they offer and even call it euroslip, but plz understand that eurogrip did not force themselves on bajaj, its the other way round, bajaj chose eurogrips for their bikes when they have plenty of other options, it means motorcycle manufacturing company desires that kind of performance.

similarly if BMW bikes will come with TVS tyres, that does not mean TVS forced itself on BMW and BMW had no option, its the other way round, BMW chose TVS. so....

and obviously an indian brand will gain some technical knowledge in the process.

There are super soft, soft, medium, hard compound tyres and then there are stone compound TVS tyres.

May be BMW want to reduce the cost of ownership of their bikes by using stone compound TVS tyres.

^ Stone compound tyres. I have seen atleast 2 guys slipping on TVS tyres, in front of my own eyes. But maybe BMW is eyeing cheap long lasting tyres for their tourers, is it?

On a serious note guys, 5 years ago, I read a journalist report by a team which claimed that TVS invited them to check out all new & soft tyres... Check this link for the story:
A Gripping Tale | Bike India

Obviously, given the above event, I'm optimistic about the setup, I really think BMW need to be careful. Tyres are not just about compound anymore. A lot depends on construction, durability (puncture/ cut resistance) and weight.

For example, The Metzelers have different flex in middle, lean and extreme lean. Then of course, we have the Sportec Dual compound rubber, plus it is worth noting that the tyre is really lightweight.
TVS Srichakra might not be able to produce such a world class tyre, but I'm still optimistic that they'll make a usable tyre, when it comes to high performance BMWs, specially tourers. Just that, they need to research well, and make all round tyres.
