Sameer Gaur, Jaypee Sports International (JPSI) chief said:
Earlier the WSBK was supposed to take place in 2013, but it got cancelled due to operational changes. WSBK commercial rights holder Dorna Sports may not have to overcome the tax hurdles faced by F1 in India but there are some logistical challenges.

Javier Alonso, WSBK executive director in 2013 said:
But a positive development has taken place since then and motorsport is now recognised by the government, therefore, getting customs and other clearances should be a less difficult task.

On the other hand Formula1 is facing income tax issues and JPSI has already contracted to host two more F1 rounds which will happen only when existing income tax issues surrounding the event are sorted.

Sameer Gaur also said:
"As of now, we are only thinking about WSBK and F1 will return when the tax issue is settled. Apart from that, the usual domestic events will continue to take place. We have made such a huge facility, invested so much in it, obviously to have international races. And I am not only talking about F1, I am talking about other championships too. As a private developer, we understand that we need to do lots of events to keep the facility going."

That's a great news. Let's hope WSBK does not face the same fate as F1!

Oh, I was hoping next year. But it's the year after next. Long time. Any way, we can just wait. Hopefully it goes through easily and I don't know, but since motorsports is now considered a sport in India, do we get any relaxation it ticket charges?

Now that you've said it, it shouldn't be as high as that of Formula 1 in previous years. However, I have an idea or rather a proposal for Sunny. How about a grand get together from all round the nation. If we can get bulk tickets for the event - all three days - FP, Superpole and Race. It s very soon to even thing about it, but I'm sure the idea is worth keeping in the parking lot till the time comes

Let us hope the race happens and doesn't suffer the same fate it did earlier!!
If we can get back F1 and WSBK, it could lead to greater things and we may be able to witness the legend, VR46, race !!!

I'm just dying to go to BIC as a spectator...

Jokes apart, I would love to see WSbk in India. Will attend it somehow... I hope there's no more obstacle in its way.

I wonder what lap times the Wsbk riders will achieve... Gurvinder ji from Delhi clocked a 2:05 the last I heard, on a modified ZX 10R.

The race will be worth watching..!

Its hard to predict at this stage though... But the race will be worth watching..!
Oh the WSBK guys will definitly be faster around the circuit. Although Gurvinder Ji is not restricted by the amount of changes he can do to the ZX10R, he still has to manage the ride on his own. While the WSBK riders have access to a variety of parts accompanied with brake, tyre, suspension and electronic specialists, Gurvinder Ji has to use his own experience and expertise to pull off the best lap.

As for the engine, camshafts remain free. Cylinder head porting is allowed but without welding, while valves, pistons and most major engine components must remain standard, as well as crankcases. Con-rods may be replaced with similar material but equal-weight parts for safety. Only one set of racing gearbox ratios will be allowed for the whole season.

Just for example, Gurvinder Ji's Ninja runs on stock brake calipers, while the WSBK runs on Brembos.

Now being able to do all that on your own is a tough task and to top that off, these riders have been racing from their teen age. There is no beating that.

'definitely looking forward to it. The idea of G2G for discounted tickets is fabulous; given the fact that we still have 1 & a half years to go.

Samarth if you follow racing forums from across the seas. Club racers get astounded by the speed of national level racers when in their midst. National level racers look ordinary when on track with support class riders of the international level. And these guys look like mere mortals with feet of clay when on track with the WSBK, MotoGP riders.

The level of skill these guys have is on a different level.

At BIC as a spectator i was watching some of the fastest local guys ripping down the track looking menacingly fast. It didn't look possible that anyone else could be faster.

Then enter Rohit Giri, former national champion who had stopped racing for a couple of seasons. He was riding an almost stock R6 with tyres which were spent. He just blasted through the track, he was taking the corners at such an insane speed, that the fast local guys looked like their litre class bikes were tricycles.

It is only when you see it that you understand what skill is. We are mere mortals, not capable of holding a candle to those guys up there!

The Monk: Its a case of wrong words put. Happens with me a lot. My bad.

I'm not saying the WSbk riders are going to get defeated. I'm just eager to know the final difference... You know, racing and all, its all about comparison. We Indians may be mere mortals, but STILL, I would love to know where we stand...

I know Wsbk bikes and their riders. They're truly world class. I also know how they swap riders with MotoGP all the time, including James Toseland, and many others for that matter. I was myself defeated by a national level racer on a Trackday, although it was a small one in Jaipur, so I know what you talk about.
Plus, I also know that on the 2 southern tracks, 600s are faster.

Even though the lap time comparison in the end, might not mean much, its still an interesting piece of information...
