  • Enfield to increase its production capacity to 52,000 units per month: xbhp News

Royal Enfield registered a growth of over 45% in the first half of the current fiscal and has decided to ramp up its production capacity up to 52,000 units a month by December from the current capacity of 36,500 units and thus reducing the waiting period for the bike.

Rudratej Singh, Royal Enfield President said:
This will allow Royal Enfield to cut down the waiting period for its bikes - which is about 5 months on an average. The present installed annual capacity for the company is 4.5 lakh units - which it wants to increase to around 6.25 lakh per annum. However Mr.Singh clarified the current year's annual production year will be 450,000 units.

Royal Enfield will also open 85 more sales and service network by December, thus taking its overall network to 500. Out of this over 20 will be in Maharashtra, since the state is one of the largest markets for the brand. At present Royal Enfield has 55 stores, including 3 exclusive gear stores in Maharashtra.

This is the current figure. In my city, the waiting period is around 5-7 months. Getting Cafe Racer 535 is even more difficult. Yes, I agree its a long waiting period.

While some may think its good for RE that their products get sold on such high demand, I would like to pinpoint that abnormally high demand, caused by supply crunch has its own demerits in the long run. It affects dealer behaviour, for example. They are cordial, no doubt, but such crunches make them disinterested in potential customers, in my experience.

Plus, a customer suffers, as he is weakened by such a demand-supply setup.

I have a friend with multiple bikes, including one Royal Enfield. His Enfield troubles him much more than (for example) Pulsar 180.... But still, he ignores big issues in The Enfield, and takes up minor issues with Pulsar very seriously at the service...

You see, what I meant by "Customer being weakened"? This is what I meant. He knows the situation with RE, if you know what I mean....

So, I support this decision to expand the production.

This is surely going to decrease the infamous waiting period of REs. Good going RE.

Finally some good news. RE is unique in it's own way.

But as Samarth said, RE customer service miserably fails. No proper communication regarding the delivery. Something RE has to start working on immediately.

If no proper emphasis given on customer service and innovation, it won't be too long before the company becomes history.

Hoping to have some positive news on these points as well
