    Two Wheeler sales for the month of August 2015



    Commenting on sales performance, Company said:
    "The festive season this year will begin almost three weeks late, as compared to last year, and this shift in season is also reflected in the subdued sales in August vis-a-vis the same period last year."
    Bajaj Auto, the second-largest motorcycle manufacturer has registered rise of 2% in total sales to 3,41,965 units in August 2015 against 3,36,840 units in August 2014. The sales of the motorcycles increased by 2% and stood at 2,90,436 units in the month under review against 2,84,302 units in August 2014. However, the company has reported 2% fall in Commercial Vehicles sales, which stood at 51,529 units as compared to 52,538 units in month of August 2014. The out of the above stood at 1,81,658 units, a gain of 4% as compared to 1,75,127 units sold in the corresponding month last year.

    TVS Motors registered a marginal increase in two-wheeler sales during the month of August 2015 at 216,781 units as compared to 215,244 units in the previous year although their domestic sales experienced a 2.37% drop at 183,653 units this year against 188,129 units during same month last year.

    Suzuki Motorcycle, India registered a whopping 67.58% increase in their August 2015 sales figures as compared to August 2014. Suzuki Motorcycle sold 36,636 units in August this year as opposed to 21,862 units during same month last year, recording a substantial growth in its overall sales.

    Mr. Atul Gupta, Executive Vice President, SMIPL, said:
    Royal Enfield, an Eicher Motors Subsidiary sold 59% more two wheelers in August 2015 compared to the same month of last year. Company has sold 42,360 units in combined domestic wholesale and exports versus 26,643 last year. Royal Enfield export sales increased by 45.6% at 760 units sold compared to 522 units in the same period last year.

    Yamaha Motor, India today reported 15 % increase in domestic sales during August at 61,440 units, as against 53,242 units sold in the same month last year.

    Roy Kurian Vice-president - Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India said:
    "Despite of various factors like increase in input costs and weakening rupee causing industry figures to go sluggish in August, we have continued our growth which is also due to Yamaha's robust business plan and strategic customer engagement programs."
