SSSSSssssooooo what the guy is essentially saying is that North Africa and Vietnam are *better* markets than India which are not too price sensitive but us poor 4th or 5th or 6th world Indians can't afford it. Nope. Compared to the mega-rich and undoubtedly first world countries/regions like Vietnam and North Africa.
Or maybe its the import duties.

What the guy is saying is that if a manufacturer does launch a quality product, people want it at throw away prices. No, we can't blame the manufacturers for not giving us world class two wheelers. Case in point, the R3, amazing product, people crying foul over the 3.25L price point. Mojo, seems to be a nice product, the arm chair motorcyclist have already killed it with remarks about it looks, even before getting their lazy asses on its saddle.

No, manufacturers wont release great products in India, if the only selling criteria remains "dhoom bike looks" and "ridiculously low prices".

Honda sells CBR500 in Pakistan, but what happened when it launched the CBR650F in India? People be like, "oh I rather buy a benelli, with its 1874 technology and its low price". No body wants quality, if that were the case the inazuma would have sold by the truck loads. But not the case. We need to mature as a market to enjoy better machine. Else, the marketing teams would only fight a losing battle to convince the companies to roll out goood bikes.

I have seen, done a bit of research and know about its origin and how a not so famous chinese company called QianJiang bought it over.

Don't get me wrong, any motorcycle that comes out of the factory is a great one. I am just comparing the Benellis to the competition today. Do you think they stand a chance with newer technology. Would you be happy if Honda started selling the Hornet from 2012? Benelli have scored a master stroke with their strategy and I think it fits well with our mentality. That of getting the maximum for our value. But don't you think it's time we step up the game, we start paying a bit more for newer technologies, that would really make manufacturers want to set up base and sell us the best, which in turn will bring the prices down?

Had everyone been ready to shell out 3.25L for the R3 happily, do you really think Yamaha would have priced it that way. It would have been 4 Lacs then.

Bargaining has been a part of our culture and it pays. It pays well 'The KTMs, Benellis etc'. They might not have top notch quality, but a high end/priced product sitting in the showroom is not as worth as a Greasy Rocket between my legs.

And who said Benellis are not good. Owners where are you??

Fair enough. With the newer technology, the prices will be soaring up high as Burj Khalifa. People will prioritise and can compromise what they want. If you need tech stuffs go for it. I am happy with what Benelli does for that price. It doesnt mean the low pricing and so called Chinese company has degraded its value by any means. The phone you use is even chinese. Lets not get into what comes out of that country and what they are capable of doing it.

You want quality and you crib for price is not right. It comes at price. Again, its totally upto one to decide what he wants and where he wants to compromise.

What do you think competitors are for. They keep you in check. Unless you are a service provider like AT&T and Tmobile in USA See technology comes at a price. Yes it can be made cheaper by increasing the numbers. But the manufacturers are shy of bringing their offerings fearing non acceptance. Selling them at a lower price would mean huge losses. It's a vicious circle.

Sorry I don't know how to multiquote. But I am not saying Benelli's are bad. When it comes to technology, they are not as advanced as the Honda is. And thats why Honda is expensive. Till the time we settle for a compromise, we will be served compromise in dolops. It's better to shell out more for a technologically superior product.

Barganing has been a inherent part of our culture. I agree. It has given us great benefits. KTM, case in point. But it's time we move ahead a bit. Experience a world of superiority. We have been experiencing 50% quality at 15% price, its time we move on to 70% quality at 40% price.

I will give you the example in terms of mobile phones. As time passes, technology becomes cheaper. The once mighty 1gb ram is nothing today. The same with technology in motorcycle. The once expensive ABS is passe today. But we are still not getting it. If we pay a little more, we will be able to get that price down in the future. We just need to show a bit of openess and regard to newer bikes. Lets not dismiss them without giving them a chance.

Benelli is doing great. Don't get me wrong. Chinese is no way are inferior to any body when it comes to technology. I use the One plus One and have trouble explaining people that it is chinese and yet functions amazingly. But the same can't be said for their motorcycle. The only respectable brand out of their is the CFMoto. And that is ridiculed in the western world. Indian brands are far more respectable, atleast when it comes to Motorcycles.

Excatly opposite. I want technology and I am ready to pay the price for it. If we as riders ask for better technology and don't fall into the 40% quality at 10% price, trap. I believe we will have better products in the future.
