    News Approved.

I can't believe a person can be dumb enough to say that helmets are not needed, because God provided us skull for protection... I'm happy that the law took the right side!

Hard fact - Many of us still don't wear helmet right under the nose of Police themselves

PS - Most of the vehicle owners who don't wear helmet have "Defense", "Police", "Secretary", "MTC" etc etc on their number plates!!

So the court took a mellineum to decide woman needs helmet?
Why on the 1st place was it that it was not mandatory.Heck even there should be a rule to wear full face helmets. at least as it protects chin and face!

I agree. It should have been enforced first on women. They way some of them drive recklessly. My God. In one gathering while everyone was introducing themselves one girl actually said i like to drive bikes and drive faster than guys +_+

We live in such a society where a judgement from law is needed to 'enforce' something which should have been a compulsion. Still it again comes down to will-power of the person who is supposed to protect himself/herself. Police/law can't check every corner/field/bylane.

Good work done by Madras High Court! Now can we please have really harsh enforcement on signal hoppers/ rash drivers/ wrong lane riders?

Helmet protects just the rider/pillion whereas the above would protect a lot of people on road...

Yea people should use their common sense. Why do they think its a hassle to wear helmets? I still see a lot of people wear helmets when they near signals and remove as soon as they cross the cop. Idiots when they do that with one hand driving people driving behind them are put to risk. They can do whatever they want as long as they dont affect other people around them.

Well, if god gave us a skull for protection, he also gave us legs to walk! So tell him to turn back and walk. On a more serious note, I think its a good move. But I am doubtful of the extent to which it will be implemented. I'd also like to point out how police are lenient when stopping women for riding without helmets, at least I felt so in my experience.

One more thing here is the awareness of helmet strap. Once while waiting for a friend on road, I decided to count the number of Helmet wearers and the number of people wearing it the correct way (strap and all!). I was amazed to see only 10% people had the strap properly on. So, out of 100 ppl, only 30 wore a helmet and only 3 wore it in a way that it offers protection.

Looks like someone is having a hell load of helmet stocks to be sold.

What a bunch of f****n idiots. Still you can see people not wearing helmets and plying on the roads in chennai right under the police wala nose, why the citizens, I have seen the police wala themselves not wearing.

High court should first charge these dumb a** idiots for not monitoring the people who is flouting the rule and stop insisting more rules.

Its just like filling a tracker for a tracker which was filled (an IT industry model being followed).

In Chennai, out of 10, 6-7 people wear Helmet. But whether they wear it properly is questionable.

I have seen people riding Z1000 and Z800 with slippers and no helmets. What do you say about them. I dont expect everyone to wear a jacket or knee gaurd inside city and look like a nut-case who came out of an asylum. But atleast helmet and shoes.
