    Artists render of the concept

The KTM 390 Adventure has been a beautiful, though short-lived dream. KTM CEO Stefan Pierer answered some direct questions and has openly declared that no adventure bike based on the current 390 platform will arrive from either Mattighofen or the Bajaj plants in India.

Folks from autoevolution which has apparently managed to reach Pierer and asked about an official statement on this matter, but the Austrian businessman said that even though KTM is always open for development, the bike as rumored will not become reality. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: KTM CEO Destroys 390 Adventure Rumors

I would still take his words with a pinch of salt. It might not be exactly Adventure series, but something similar of such type might be cooking, I hope. Many Royal Enfield owners were looking forward to this kind of machine. And now Mr. Pierer refuses it.

One explanation to this could be that, maybe KTM believes that India has lesser scope for naked/ adventure bikes, seeing the attention that RC series got.

It is commonly believed that Indian junta is a fan of sportsbikes, and to some extent I agree. Naked bikes may look good, but when you've seen them all your life, that too mileage oriented single cylinder type, you are bound to get bored of it, isn't it?
I mean, who sees a low capacity single cylinder naked now and says, "Wow, what a bike!" ? Except maybe for Duke (or FZ & Gixxer maybe).

    This concept was promising though.

Sam, nothing caught my eye besides these two, the sentence and the smiley, and I guess it pretty much sums up.

Maybe they have not seen enough potentials.

Re: KTM CEO Destroys 390 Adventure Rumors

There were rumours of Adventure which was actually based on some hints from KTM but it appears they have taken a step back to assess the success of KTM naked and faired for the time being. Even though Adventure is a great bike, IMO it would have been too hasty on KTMs part to be releasing a new model every year or so without proper homework.

Very true. not everyone wants a naked bike.. not everyone is a fan of full faired and not everyone is a fan of off-roaf bikes.. its best that they do proper homework before launching in a new market.. after all.. they dont want to go in for a loss..

Thats really bad news.... was looking forward to buying this... they should atleast bring in a 390 enduro like the 690 enduro... which is road legal.... street and sports bikes are too boring with limited only on-road capabilities. ...

You shouldn't have cancelled as your RE would anyways have really long waiting period and you could have cancelled if you really got positive news about this.

I for one think its quite obvious ...

For a common man (read Indian), lets imagine RC and Adventure kept side by side - One will obviously choose RC barring a very very few aficionados.

Now if you tell that Adventure with its 19 liter tank ,heavier toughened chassis & swing-arm, heavier spoke rims and off-road tires will be tuned for more bottom-end torque which will be slower than Duke and RC and not that inspiring on roads or corner craving (as RC or Duke), tell me how many would bother.

Also I guess Adventure if released would have been costlier than even RC as well for many reasons and hence the decision maybe...
