  • HMSI - Safety features & BS IV updates on all bikes/scooters from 2016

Honda launched its CB Hornet 160R last week making it Honda's 15th offering to the Indian market this year. The 162cc bike that was launched in Goa last Thursday meets the BS IV regulations which will be implemented from March 31, 2017. Keeping the timeline set by the new government in mind, Honda will update all of its existing models in the Indian market in 2016. This would ensure that the entire Honda two-wheeler line-up is BS IV compliant before 2016 ends.

At the launch of the CB Hornet 160R in Goa, Mr. Keita Muramatsu, President and Chief Executive, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter Indiatold ET Auto that 14 models from Honda's two-wheeler stable will be upgraded to meet the new norms.

The upgradation program will also ensure that Honda's Combined Brake System (CBS) will be installed in all models less than 125cc and the Antilock Braking System (ABS) will be installed in motorcycles above 125cc.

The recently-launched Honda CB Hornet 160R already meets the BS IV emission norms, making it one of the first motorcycles in the Indian market to do so. This announcement also means that 2016 is going to be an eventful year for HMSI as this upgrade, along with the launch of the all-new two-wheelers, will make Honda one of the frontrunners in the Indian two-wheeler industry.
