Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

finally they launch the w50 fs variant!
seems to be priced much higher than their shell advance ultra fs 10w40.
Gonna try it at the next oil change on my duke.

This makes them expensive than most Motul oils including 7100. I hope its not all hype... Anyways, with a recommended 10W50, I don't think we should use it on Duke.
If we however use it, on the Duke, then we should give it a longer warm up while cold starting.

I think any motorcycle with a recommended oil rating within the ranger of 15-50 can use it. Like 20W40, 20W50, 15W40, etc...
This would make Bullets, Pulsars, etc. the target for these oils.

But with such a high price, the customer will expect nothing short of miracles, like less vibrations, smooth gearshifts and noise getting lesser.

A little expensive. Have to prove the worth to stay in the competition!
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

It's not an issue at all on using it on the dukes.. a warm up of a minute is sufficient with the 10w,15w,20w and as long as the number after W is 50. Unless you are living in really cold climates, it wont matter. The svc in fact gives both the 10w50 and 20w50 motul 7100, they have though been instructed by ktm to stop supplying the 300v.

The price of the shell seems to be around that of the 300v.

Yeah, a minute of warm up should be more than enough even for 20, if anyone in India is patient enough for that. We bikers can take out the time easily though. Anything for the bike. <3

Slight OT: Regarding the part in bold, I just wonder why. What is with 300v that is actually bad? I've only heard good things about it.

I'm still using 7100 though, and I was comparing with 7100 too, in terms of price. But why is KTM avoiding 300v?

people really do not understand the 300v and for what it was made. it was tailored mostly towards the track and race users where long drain intervals and engine 'cleanliness' wasn't the main criteria.
also from what i have observed, the 300v seems to be the culprit for a lot of gasket failures on the ktm's. its mostly these ktm and pulsar folks who use the 300v more than say a honda or yamaha folks.. hence more instances of leakages reported. what is good for a certain application might not be perfectly ok in another scenario (everyday road use with extended drain intervals)

now coming to the mindset of a lot of folks.. they simply think expensive is better and then there is the hype of the textual experts, there is no dearth of misleading information floating around. how many people even bother to understand what a msds sheet is or try to put 2 and 2 together.
if one can stick to the recommended grade/brand and do regular oil changes.. a lot of issues will not crop up. it's irregular oil change and maintenance negligence that causes more issues than a 'specific' brand.

The 7100 is a fs oil that is good enough for the drain intervals recommended and does a pretty good job. If one is trashing the bike too often, then simply change the oil a little earlier.

War's over oil are never ending !
