This is an welcome news. But, they have to be bang-on. RE already enjoys a cult status. To take on the brand RE, you need equally or maybe better products.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Come on friends!
Everyone has his or her likes and dislikes. Honestly speaking, even I'm not too fond of of RE bikes(no offense to owners). But, RE has been for so long in India that they are very hard to replace from the minds of people. And their sales report is showing positive trends each month.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Re: Bajaj Auto-KTM alliance readies adventure-tourer to take on Royal Enfield
So, we are comparing an not yet launched machine with a just-unveiled but not-ridden machine, and on basis of our past experience, we've concluded which is better, is it? Cool.
Guys, we all know the story with both KTM and RE. There's no use trying to reach a conclusion.
Both are improving themselves every month, and both have proved themselves in their individual strengths.
Personally, I say, even if KTM ends up making an overall amazing/ better machine (which they might), dethroning the Royal Enfield will still be a heck of a challenge.
Specially with KTM's pricing. Duke 200, the cheapest machine by itself is more expensive than few RE's. They need to cut price by a good margin... if they need to make a slight dent to RE's sales.
This is just a personal thought though, although I seriously doubt they'll have better low end torque than Enfields.
I have a first lot Duke 390, one the very first twenty bikes, that came into my state. And the alloys have not bent or cracked, even though I've had about two to three major pothole/speed breaker bumps. They shook me to the core, but when I checked the alloys, they were ok.Originally posted by sman999Most broken issues with broken KTM's are due to insane riders and not bad quality. Its built like that for a purpose. (except the first lot had serious alloy issues)
I would say from what I perceive, maybe there are no quality problems at all, but just problems related to "consistency of quality". Or maybe, its just a rider thing.Last edited by Samarth 619; 03-05-2016, 10:11 PM.---

Re: Bajaj Auto-KTM alliance readies adventure-tourer to take on Royal Enfield
I am not proud of what I said earlier.but sometimes it becomes very hard to resist when someone bash a particular brand(ANY COMPANY)each brand has got its bashers but specially RE.a person who has been aggrieved by a particular brand complains it's understandable. But many people give opinions by simply reading, watching, hearing others(friends, relative, neighbors, the local mechanic) etc.they have not actually ridden that bike or if ridden than .
for a few kilometers. This line is stuck in my mind so I am putting it here.'I AM NOT CERTIFYING YOUR IDEA OF A BIKE BUT DO NOT DEMEAN MINE'
Peace!

Re: Bajaj Auto-KTM alliance readies adventure-tourer to take on Royal Enfield
Guys I'm sorry for bringing RE into a thread about KTM, and involuntarily being part of another flame war. But please modify the name of thread "KTM readies adventure tourer to take on royal Enfield" avoiding bit about Enfield as comparison between the two was bound to happen.
That being said, I would like the proposed KTM tourer to focus more on touring and less on adventure. In that case all they have to do is just modify the rear sub frame for pillion and panniers, upright seating position, a good fairing which is adjustable and they already have a winner. Because the motor is already superb for munching miles on our highways as it is. For adventure part they need a wee bit more bottom grunt I guess. And please don't increase the seat height, have some pity on is vertically challenged guys.

Re: Speculation: Bajaj-KTM alliance readies its own adventure-tourer.
A question!
When it is said "Bajaj Auto partnering with KTM, has readied adventures touring bike", will it be branded as KTM only? Coz in the entire thread everyone has referred that upcoming product as KTM only. So the DNA of the upcoming product would be a Bajaj Pulsor/Avenger or KTM duke !!!??? Any information or guesses ???
