99.9% junta run their old vehicle without any maintenance ,like we see those really old bajaj chetaks that sound and pollute too much ,similarly autos ,buses ,trucks etc .Originally posted by Ishwor View PostIsnt it immature decision.

Problem is ,they cannot scrap one type of vehicles due to manuf. Date while letting other roam freely .
Delhi ranked 170 th in the list of cleanliness of air ,out of 170 cities.
Particulate matter (pM) size has gone above 2.5 ,which is enough to kill severe asthmatic patient ,in western terms .
So national green tribunal has to take some stiff measures to cop up the losses .
Accoridbg to the UNCC report ,if we don't cut our emission to half by 2030 and zero or negative by 2100 ,we're in deep serious shhht.
And bigger problem is ,we only have the time slot of 2020-2030 to do something ,if we miss this period ,then we're seriously fkkkd .
Expect some drastic amendments to Laws and announcements once peru summit is adjourned this year .
Meanwhile you can take these actions ..
1. Ride till cop catches you ..
1.a. you bribe him ,you roam again .
1.b. you don't ,vehicle gets impounded.
2. Sell it to up/ap/ rest of India .
3. Lend to relative in other territory.
4. Settle in other territory.
5. Hire ram jethmanali, get a stay on the order and fight a case against union republic of India .Last edited by Anuj_Gupta; 12-01-2014, 10:30 PM.

Re: More than 15 year old vehicles will be banned from Delhi Roads: xBhp News
And, this will force people to buy new vehicles, in turn benefitting the automobile industry by a noticeable difference... Hmm... With this government, its a believable news indeed.
For some reasons, I don't agree with this instantaneous implementation. At this point of time, we must have better recycling and waste disposal techniques before we go on making such rules.
Are we ready for it? Where will the 2.9 million vehicles actually go? Not all have contacts, relatives, etc. out of Delhi...
I can imagine them occupying useful space in an already congested Delhi. Let's hope that will be private space... and not public's space.Last edited by Samarth 619; 12-02-2014, 01:28 AM.---

Is Delhi more polluted then kathmandu?
Your explationation makes me feel like the government decision is rational.
In my city (kathmandu) i can see hell lot of new vehicles( may be a year old) but still blowing smoke out due to no maintainance by owners.Big buses ,trucks and mini buses are majour black smoke producers and there are plenty of bikes (NEW) running with after market exhaust and with CATCON removed.
We dont have any law on monitoring exhaust gas for pollutant level(dont know the exact term for it).Government officers have no knowledge on these subjects.
.Soon they might implement similer rules
here.They are good at coping.
15 years old vehicles are not common here because vehicles go bad before this period because of no maintainance knowledge on our common janta.

Re: More than 15 year old vehicles will be banned from Delhi Roads: xBhp News
This decision is more like people more than 60 years old should be killed because they are require more medical care and stuff. If pollution is the reason, why can't they remove vehicles based on their true pollution output? Everything everywhere in India is corrupted and polluted. Pollution certificates are issued without even starting the vehicle engines. And all that the authorities do is sit and watch. Without any correction for such stuff, they want common man to undergo this burden? There are many people who maintain their vehicles in peak conditions that even some "within 15 years" vehicles can't manage to achieve. And if that be the case, what about those polluting government vehicles that I see in many places? This move looks more like a move to make automobile sector increase their "profits". Also, if this is the case, then when will they update the constitutional laws to current requirements I wonder...

Very valid logic. They should really ban vehicle engines based on their level of pollution - not age. The 'aam aadmi' will suffer the most here.Originally posted by John P Daniel View PostThis decision is more like people more than 60 years old should be killed because they are require more medical care and stuff.update the constitutional

Have they really thought about what to do with the 29 lakh 2nd hand vehicles? What will happen to those vehicles?A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Ishwor yes buddy ,Delhi is the worst polluted city in this world .
For all of those who're saying the ruling is irrational or not needed ,you don't know the intensity of situation because no one has shown it to you (I don't know why pictorial media is silent about it ) .the situation is so tense that govt has decided to show pollution levels by colour coding ,means red for worst and green for good etc etc .
NGT has sealed many air polluting factories .
Even Punjab farmers are cautioned not to burn leftovers of crop because even that smoke cloaks Delhi atmosphere heavily .
For any more queries, feel free to tag me .

Re: More than 15 year old vehicles will be banned from Delhi Roads: xBhp News
If the government had kept tabs on corruption and other inhumane activities, this situation would not have arrived. If this is the case, the way I see it, more than half of the affected people will be forced to use public transport, which as we all know, is at times more polluting(I'd love if you could see the condition of public transports here) and highly risky. As for particulate matter, it doesn't rise all of a sudden. The concerned authorities were lazy to monitor the situation when they had the time which had led to this drastic immature move. If factories that caused high pollution should be banned, I can make out several such factories that are much more polluting in southern India which have been approved by so called authorities by using illegal methods. Well they be closed as well? The way I see it, corruption will free them. Its the common man who is ultimately affected since he has to use his hard earned money unlike people at "high posts" who are "gifted" vehicles for their utilisation.

Re: More than 15 year old vehicles will be banned from Delhi Roads: xBhp News
Just wanted to add that my dad owns a 24 year old chetak and a 18 year old HH Splendor, and both these vehicles are well maintained and work like charm.
The reason I'm telling you guys this is that even after decades of daily use, these 2 vehicles are less polluting, than most of the other peoples' 2 year old Activa or Discover, because of improper maintenance. So why cant the government order the people responsible for checking pollution levels, to do their job properly and scrap the vehicles who exceed the pollution norms, irrespective of how old the vehicle is.
But NOOO.. this is India. The guys will just take 50 RS bribe, stamp and sign the damn pollution certificate and everybody is happy. Incredible IndiaI would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.
