  • MV Agusta enters India with Kinetic Group; launches 3 super luxury sports bikes

Mercedes Benz part owned Italian super bike brand MV Agusta has entered India in partnership with Pune based Kinetic group with the launch of three luxury bikes priced between Rs 16.78 lakh to Rs 50.10 lakh - ex-showroom Pune.

The launch of MV Agusta in India turns a full circle for Kinetic Group who entered two wheeler space four decades back with the most affordable two wheeler Luna - the moped, the group is now launching some of the most expensive bikes on Indian roads.

The Kinetic Group will be assembling some of these super bikes at its Ahmednagar factory, for which it has set up a small assembly line with an investment of Rs 5 crore.

The kits will be imported in semi knocked down form and will be assembled at the factory. It will be marketed and distributed it through its Motoroyale showrooms.

Kinetic has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with MV Agusta to sell bikes in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The company will operate as MV Agusta India Private Limited.

On Kinetic's decision to come back to two wheeler business Ajinkya Firodia, MD of M V Agusta India said it is the groups passion for the two wheelers and know-how on how to operate the business brought back the group into business.

"We were the first company to launch a super bike in 2001 and we have sold over 1 crore two wheelers so far. Through Motoroyale we are creating a platform to bring in the most super premium motorcycles in the country. Our focus over the next one and half years is to build the MV Agusta brand and grow the segment," said Firodia.

The company launched three bikes the F4, F3 and Brutale 1090, which will be sold across 6 showrooms in the country. The first showroom will be inaugurated in Pune on Thursday and through the year the company will expand into markets of Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.

Judah Sangaran, Far East, Country Manager for MV Agusta Motor S.p.A said it is a perfect time to enter the Indian super bike market as there is a surge in demand for big bikes in the country.

"We will be bringing in the full range to the Indian market of 10-12 motorcycles in the next two years. It is a growing market and it is growing exponentially, we see this market growing at the a strong double digit and we would like to acquire bigger market share in times to come."

The company is planning to sell about 300 bikes in 2016, which it plans to grow by 70-100% in 2017 to 500-600 bikes.

The company has already set itself a target of 10% market share of 3000 Super sports luxury bikes priced above Rs 15 lakh in 2016. The company will be competing against super sports bikes from Ducati and Triumph at the higher end.

The company will be planning to add another four showrooms in 2017.

Globally MV Agusta sold about 8000 bikes in 2015 growing by over 30% with Asian region contributing to about 22%, which grew by about 12%.

    News Approved.

The price may not seem like your typical CKD, but guys remember, this is a super premium bike maker, not your typical Sbk maker.

What's the F3 priced at? And anyone been to the MotoRoyale store? Haven't seen one yet.
Every Motorcycle has a tale to be told and there is no greater privilage in the life of a rider than to have truly understood what his Motorcycle stands to tell. Some of the greatest stories in the world are not written, they are experienced.

I assume you mean CKD? The 959 Panigale is the only direct competitor to the F3. The Daytona too but the price difference will take the F3 only into a fight with the Panigale.

                  Got it!

I'm aprehensive though. The minute I hear Kinetic, my trust factor sinks to the bottom

Nope, ducati any day, MV doesn't have anything special to sell at this price other than hand built tag I guess, ducati on the other hand has carbon fibre panels, desmodromic valves, and same performance, if I had the money, I would rather buy the BMW s1000rr with the additional electronics package.

I guess MV is piaggio owned.

The F3 is around 18lakhs on road. The Ducati is around 16lakhs. The S1000R is in the 21+ range. Also, the F3 finally has an electronic package that works. Gone are the days where the MV would falter only because the EBC would kick in too hard or the TC was too intrusive. The package on this model and on the F4 are outstanding. Globally, they all fight for the mid weight supersport title- 959, F3, Daytona, GSXR750,ZX-6R.

Yes, but Kinetic has had too many failed ventures in India. After sales and servicing is my concern.

That high pricing and Kinetic, both does not look good for MV in India.

MV is undoubtedly an Iconic brand, Pricing is the least of any discussion especially when MV's future is hanging like a dong.

news floating around that Polaris are sniffing around the Iconic MV brand is doing rounds over the internet, which means *Cough* *Cough* Eicher could benefit with our very own Royal Enfield through Eicher's partnership with Polaris.

personally, i hope someone from Mahindra & Mahindra are reading this and maybe looks at the bigger picture on the lines on Peugeot Scooters + Mahindra 2 Wheels + MV's WorldSBK competition. and yes, + its Italian.
