Having stricter law is one thing, honestly applying it is another. I am sure now the police walas are not going to settle for 100₹. Its a great tool for them to blackmail even more

Why not provide the number plates at the time of registration( or by post with the RC book), this way every plate will be uniform. No replacement for an engine Displacement

That's what they are doing with the HSRP scheme. But people want cheaper options elsewhere.Originally posted by Suraj200 View PostWhy not provide the number plates at the time of registration( or by post with the RC book), this way every plate will be uniform.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

....From now on, there's gonna be more bribes, more harassment and marginally more (honest) implementation of such rules.Originally posted by NewsReaper View PostGroup of State Transport Ministers have approved amendment in the Motor Vehicle act in a bid to make city road safer. From now on
We are a bunch of strange people, we need others to force us, punish and shame us to follow rules and keep ourselves safe.
I wonder though, if and when such rules and punishments would deter people from riding/driving sanely.
Riding without tail lamps, no/hazardous headlights, using no/blue colored indicators(wonder who started this nonsense.
 ), no/uselessly set rear view mirrors.... The list goes on, doesn't it?
Let's just try to keep riding safer!
PS: This turned out to be more of a banter than I thought it'd be.

Guys i heard that what ever you do over speeding or anything, you can inform police that "i will pay give me a court notice" and you can get that from him and go to court and you can pay after that. not required to give him at the moment and he cant even seize your vehicle he don't have that right's.
Vehicles can only be seized if you are drunk.
i hate this police and their lies and Bribes even though we have not done any mistake and we are good

There are 2 types of fines - Spot fines and 'Other traffic' fines.Originally posted by Dragon prince View PostGuys i heard that what ever you do over speeding or anything, you can inform police that "i will pay give me a court notice" and you can get that from him and go to court and you can pay after that. not required to give him at the moment and he cant even seize your vehicle he don't have that right's.

Spot fines are valid for no DL, no helmet, riding on pavement, DUI, speeding etc. They need to be paid on the spot.
Other fines like no Insurance, no RVM, illegit number plates on bike etc can be paid at a court.

[QUOTE=
Similar fines have been announced for vehicle component dealers found selling non-approved safety items.[/QUOTE]
What are these non approved safety items???
will helmet without ISI sticker come in this category or the safety jackets and other apparels which Indian agencies have no clue about their existance???
Our politicians and policy makers are a big joke.
And we will never meet a honest officer implementing these rules.
Also, recently I have read that on the pune-mumbai express way they collected some 3 lakh plus rupees in fine for lane jumping, what if a corrupt officer says he wants his collection (bribe/kaala paisa) to be more? so the subordinates start hunting on the roads and fine for no fault of the driver/rider.

Re: Jail for 2-years, if caught racing on public roads
I don't think these rules will help anyone but corrupt traffic police. Also, the rules if enforced are only applicable to common man. VIPs and MLA's son, bhai, chacha, chachi etc etc are exempt. For your own safety buy a good helmet camera, be it sjcam, go pro so that you can use the footage as an evidence if needed.Last edited by sushant_infotag; 05-31-2016, 01:16 AM."It's not who I am underneath but what I do that defines me."

Re: Jail for 2-years, if caught racing on public roads
Loads of such law are already in place. If those had been implemented properly by now, probably there would've been no need to introduce a new law every two months.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Have you heard of cops harassing motovloggers in India? Yeah, some places you get fined for attaching helmet cameras too. Such is the level of stupidity.Originally posted by sushant_infotag View Post
