8Kw up, 15 kgs down. New Blade sits at 191.76 ps @ 195 kg from the previous 180ps@210 kg(ABS).

The SP-2 is the homologation version and only 500 units will be made. It comes fitted with lightweight Marchesini wheels. Honda will offer two different kits for track racers, neither of which are road legal for obvious reasons.
    1) Sport Kit
    2) Race kit.

MCN has listed all the changes here:
    SP version:
‘All 1000cc sportsbikes are extraordinary examples of high performance engineering. But for us, for our new Fireblade, we want extraordinary to be the pleasure of handling and controlling such a machine. Its true purpose – wherever it’s ridden – is to enjoy something that is not normally experienced in everyday life, something that cannot be surpassed,” says Mr Sato-san, large project leader for the new Fireblade. Well, that sounds good. 2017 is the 25th anniversary of the Fireblade, and while we all hoped Honda would do something special to mark the model’s quarter-century, we couldn’t have dreamed that they’d go this far. Rather than simply replacing the exiting stock bike and SP, it looks like we will be treated to three new models for 2017. The mystery omission here is the base model – but who cares about that when there’s this new SP version, and the even more stunning SP2 (turn over for that) on offer? While Honda’s engineers have certainly remained true to their first principles

    SP-2 version:
This is more like it! Honda’s previous Fireblade range-topping model was a slightly apologetic attempt at taking the Fireblade up a level, but this new SP2 is the real deal, and then some.  A road legal homologation special using the new SP as a base, just 500 will be made for race use. It’s great to see HRC logos proudly on display, too.  Carbon pattern insets and gold striping interwoven into the Tricolour paint mark the Fireblade SP2’s difference over the stock  machine, as do lightweight gold Marchesini wheels that reduce wheel inertia at the front by 18%, and 9% at the rear.  But the real differences – and what gives the Fireblade SP2 ultimate racing potential – lie inside the engine and, in turn, the parts that can be added from the two HRC race kits that will be available in Race and Sport packages. While the 76mm bore is identical to the SP, the Fireblade SP2 cylinder head runs 1mm larger 31.5mm diameter intake valves and 1.5mm larger 25.5mm diameter exhaust valves, with

I thought they said they will go the non Electronic way with the standard blade.
This makes the blade on par with the competition. With the new GSXR also about to come, boy the 1000CC market is ready for a slugfest.

I am still not fond of the front end looks. The back though looks nice. Honda designers can design some really nice back sides. I don't why cant they design a decent front end. The new CBR500 is an exception. Its front end is pretty gorgeous.

They're always looking for form over function. Almost all Japanese brands are that way. They don't build SBKs or SS bikes for aesthetics. Yamaha moved the headlight out of the front cowling to provide a smoother air flow as possible.

The Fireblade had a chin spoiler in the last avatar:

And the 600RR was as aerodynamically efficient as the RC212V:

        Anyway here's the launch video:

I haven't read it anywhere yet. Any idea if the SP2 will be used in WSBK 2017? Hayden is good marketing material for Honda's superbikes. He will be even better marketing material if he can race at the pointy end in WSBK alongside new teammate Stefan Bradl.

Will also be interesting to see how this fares at the IOM TT with McGuinness on board.

The SP-2 is referred to as the Homologation special. 500 units will be made and you need to have a racing license to be able to buy one and then get the non street legal racing kits.

This link says its called the FIM Homologation special:
                http://http://www.roadracingworld.co...erbike-racing/

So there's a good chance Hayden might get to ride it. Although as far as I know the WSBK rules stated a manufacturer needs to produce a 125 units of model prior to being homologated, and then in the first 6 months has to sell 500 units, and by the end of first year needs to sell 1000 units and then 2000 units by the end of next year.

Bimota BB3 was disqualified after they passed the first 125 unit homologation since they could not sell 500 and more units within the timeframe. This was in 2014.

Honda might be clubbing the SP-1 and SP2 to meet those sales requirements for next year.

The v4 RVF is scheduled to arrive by the end of 2018 and there is talks going on that it might take over the Fireblade's role in WSBK after 2018. Its also expected to be an expensive track tool at $30k a piece. It looks like they ditched the third option that was a cheaper RC213V-S. Honda may not be building the 200 units of the GP replica they intended to build before 2017 since the plant was closed for a few months owing to quake damage and now they won't be able to build enough units before Euro 4 is enforced.

Guys, I have just received the pricing from Honda for the new Fireblades:

                    Standard Ex Showroom Delhi: 1760964
                    On Road: 1925065
                    Colours: Victory Red/ Matt Ballistic

                    SP Ex showroom Delhi: 2170597
                    On Road: 2372512
                    Colours: Victory Red

1% TCS will be applicable on total sales consideration as per govt. notification.

                    Excellent pricing in my opinion.
The standard is priced right in the ZX10R price range.
The SP with its electronic suspension is much cheaper than the closest rival having it, the R1M. The R1M is supposed to be around 26 Ex showroom.

                    Let the new dreams begin
