Suzuki has already confirmed on the new GSX-R1000R for the 2016 line-up. But they are the only big bike manufacturer without any sport quarter-liter bike in the market. If we are to believe “Young Machine”, than rumours might get the shape of a GSX-R250, an identical looking quarter-liter-class bike, with a smaller engine that can address new riders who want to get into sports bike world.

Young Machine is widely accepted as a reliable source for info on un-revealed motorcycles. So, we can trust the source. They were the ones who gave us info on the CBR250 and even YZF R3, and some other launches as far as I remember.

The expanding Asian market means that many manufacturers can't treat 250cc-400cc segment as a junior to Supersports. The result is that the latest 250-400s from major manufacturers resemble their elder brothers.

It is for the same reason, that Ninja 300 of today resembles a ZX10R to the naive man's eyes. The difference has minimised at least if not eliminated completely. Similarly, CBR 250, is also quite close to its elder brothers, for the untrained eye at least. Yamaha just did the same to their YZF R3, and in some amounts their YZF R15 version 2.0.

You can obviously expect Suzuki to cash in on the strategy.

The premium products still retain selling points by their bigger tyres, much better performance and quality of components, and the exhaust note, of course.

These images are only renderings of the 'rumored' bikes, as imagined by fans. Nothing is official. The YZF R25 renderings shown in Young Machine were also imagined and no where close to the product we see today.

And since when do we have rumors as news??

Fake renderings. As mentioned above, R3/R25 was also rendered with drastic design changes by same Japanese mags earlier.

If it really comes to production in more or less similar design, it would be the best looking one in the single cylinder 250 cc class in India!

If you aren't tired of scoops already, the reliable Young Machine magazine in Japan has released another scoop of a possible GSR250X aka mini V-strom being showcased at the Tokyo Motor show later this month. This news was out as early as July this year but it somewhat is confirmed to make its presence there. While the render is mostly speculative, i couldn't help but notice that the bike carries some identical components to the now defunct Inazuma aka GW250. Now the engineer in me can see this as a possible recirculation of spent project money being used to relocate the commuter oriented cruiser's image into the touring/adventure styled motorcycle for a possible resurrection. It makes sense because Suzuki has been at the bottom of the sales charts owing to the exit of their car brand from the North American markets and there has been a financial crisis ever since. The money lost on the Inazuma can still be found if this production model finds its right target.

P.S: Mods might want to add GSR250X to the title so i didn't create a new thread for this.

                      GSR250 : Can't be with a parallel twin
                      GSR250X : Can't be it's not a high revving engine
G-Strom 250 : this name makes sense provided they're actually working on it

If it's supposed to be showcased later this month then I've no trouble waiting to laugh at all these speculations...

PS: speculated design has parts from GW250 & V-Strom 650; and grossly disproportionate.

These speculations does make some sense. Inazuma had a short life but the R&D put into it will not be thrown away just like that. The same engine could be used in different clothes with a bit of tuning here and there.

                        Cheers,
                        Sanjay

the cb500x is not a high revving engine either yet its suddenly the talk of the town at adv forums ever since Rally-Raid created off road components for the bike to truly be an ADV bike. Besides, who expects speculative renders to be exactly similar to production models?
