  • Royal Enfield to introduce 750cc Twin Cylinder motorcycle by March 2017

Earlier this year, Royal Enfield said that they will introduce new models every year from 2016 onwards. There has been a lot of news on the world wide web that two-wheeler manufacturer is working on the 750cc engine. Recent spy shots of the test mule of 750cc motorcycle in UK suggest the new motorcycle's to be based on the Continental GT chassis with modifications. The motorcycle is powered by a 750cc parallel twin engine, which is expected to produce 45-50hp of power and 60Nm of torque. According to the images, the suspension duties will be taken care by a telescopic front suspension at the front and Paioli shock absorbers at the rear.
The 750cc motorcycle will be the flagship model in Royal Enfield's product lineup and will be launched by March 2017 in India. When launched the motorcycle will compete with the likes of Harley-Davidson Street 750. This will also increase the company's exposure to a larger base of consumers, both in India and in international markets. This will also be the first motorcycle to have been developed by the Royal Enfield Technology Centre in Britain.
Royal Enfield has witnessed a growth of 33 percent in its sales for October 2016. The manufacturer sold 59,217 units in October 2016 as compared to 44,522 units in October 2015. With the increasing demand of Royal Enfield motorcycles the company has decided to invest Rs 600crore in its Chennai plant. The new investment includes the new engineering centers and R&D centers. In addition to this, the company also to increase its production capacity to 6.75 lakh units by the end of March 2017.

Hope they (RE) continue with Brembos and Pirellis (ala Conti GT) and not take the MRF/Bybre route like HD did with their most VFM offering.

Re: Royal Enfield to introduce 750cc Twin Cylinder motorcycle by March 2017

I have high doubts about this launching in Mar17! coz we've not even seen any spy pics or test rigs here in india! I can recall we saw Himalayan (jugaad bikes) for atleast 6-7months in more & more refined avatars before launch. And again launching an all new engine with GT doesn't really make sense when their recently developed Himalayan engine has not ripened yet!

I thought a more sensible launch would be replacing the "Classic 350" series with the Himalayan 400cc engine - "Classic 400"!!! alongside Himalayan ABS etc. Or maybe even a lightweight GT with 400cc engine .

Though the Conti GT is perfect platform for the twin launch I feel if they want to again peg the GT at a Flagship I believe they need to rigorously test the engine for performance & endurance. Also I've no doubts they'll keep the "Premium Stuff - Brembo, Pioli, Allu-rims etc" on the bike intact; you can't go lower specs on a 750 while your regular GT rides on premiums!

Have a look at the picture carefully. Its twin cylinder, i think its difficult to spot this bike as RE is testing new engine on same old bike with no cosmetic changes or any kinda camouflage.
Still there are few pictures on internet which are showing the new engine:
