  • Honda Rebel 500 and Rebel 300

The Honda Rebel 500 and Honda Rebel 300 were unveiled in USA. The bikes are based on the popular CBR500R and CBR300R.

The Rebel range of motorcycles have been very popular in that country and have been around for decades. And the 2017 Honda Rebel 500 and 300 were unveiled recently to build on the range. The bikes use the same engine as found on the CBR500R and CBR300R respectively. The powerplants are of course retuned for cruiser motorcycle needs. The bikes will make be on sale in April next year and will be available with and without ABS.

The bike might be an entry level motorcycle in the western market, perfect for beginners who want to get into motorcycling. But in India this would fit in perfectly for the cruiser lovers to step up from Avengers and Thunderbirds! Unfortunately the chances of these two motorcycles finding their way to India is next to none.

Currently the Indian motorcycle market barely caters to the cruiser segment. Would you like to see something like this on Indian roads?

Re: Honda Rebel 500 and Rebel 300

Honda's perception of the Indian customer is dated, almost to the stone age. If that was not all, Honda thinks our perception of Honda dates back to the same age! Alas, we cannot change the way Honda thinks. Period.

I wonder what HMSI is day dreaming of ? What is resisting them to launch the CBR500R, CB500 & CB500X series?

This series would have made so much more sense than the in-line 4 cylinder CBR 650cc in Indian conditions. Ofcourse pricing them competitively is something very important in Indian market.

Re: Honda Rebel 500 and Rebel 300

There was news a few weeks ago that HMSI's Indian R&D Wing is working on a localized CB500X(a bit differently styled than the 2017 International market CB500X) for localization purposes. There was even a few CAD model of said prototype leaked in International magazine websites.

The article said that this would be HMSI's 2nd indigenous project after the Navi.
And another magazine linked it to the CX01 turned CX02 concept aswell.

        Here it is:
Honda CMX500 (Honda CX-02's production version) revealed

        This was the CX02 concept:

Looks like the Rebel 300 and 500 will also be coming in a Cafe Racer avatar this year:
