  • A Hybrid Motorcycle with a Rotary Engine!

A French-based motorcycle design company named Furion Motorcycles has unveiled the CAD images of its first hybrid street bike concept model. Powered by 654cc Wankel rotary engine and 55hp electric motor with five lithium ion batteries which claims to produce 180 hp (125 hp at 9000rpm + 55 hp) and 205Nm of Torque (105 Nm at 6000 rpm + 100 Nm).

Ever wanted a liter class bike which produces around 180 hp with the mileage of Hero Splendor motorcycle! How about around 400 kms on 16 liters of fuel!
The interesting part of this hybrid bike is its torque which is said to be 151 lb-ft and comparing to the KTM 1290 Super Duke R, the power output of this hybrid bike will be around 45 percent more than a KTM 1290 Super Duke R. Furion Motorcycle claims that the bike will give maximum fuel efficiency with the high-performance output as liter class bike.

Hybrid Technologies are being used & developed by various automobile manufacturing companies including Toyota Prius, BMW i8 and McLaren P1. Two wheeler hybrids are yet to see any major development and Furion Motorcycles have shown a hope to dream of a new hybrid motorcycle.
    Why Rotary Engine?

The usual hybrid engines are huge in size and it is difficult to fit into a motorcycle frame and thus the company has chosen the very compact rotary engine which was in production in the 80s and 90s as Norton Rotary. We hope the Furion will make the best of it.

Explaining about the new hybrid bike, Furion Motorcycles says, "Hybrid Genes, an Exotic Interbreeding - Furion M1 is a motorcycle currently in development with its heart to Wankel rotary engine combined with an electric motor to the best of hybridization. An original motive combination with the key to an unusual sound, a musical fruit of two rotors of the rotary engine. Sporty, light and handy the furion m1 boasts high performance with record consumption. A carrier motor housed within a tubular steel trellis frame, all associated with the best of adaptable for chassis allows it to take very good dynamic qualities. The sporty claimed by this muscular roadster also passes by ecological concerns ahead of the forthcoming European standards. The Furion M1 offers sharp styling, highlighted by led light sets dotting the bow stern. The brainchild of passionate."
