  • Suzuki Gixxer Cup 2017: Selection rounds start from June 4th 2017

Suzuki Motorcycle announced the third season of their Suzuki Gixxer Cup for 2017.

Suzuki has tied up with JK Tyre Motorsport as the organizers for the Suzuki Gixxer Cup 2017. Both the Suzuki Gixxer Cup and the Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup will be run as a part of the 20th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship 2017. While the Road to Rookies Cup will cater to riders between the ages of 12 and 16 years, the Suzuki Gixxer Cup will be for riders of 17 years and older.

And like last year, the Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup is back with the Suzuki Gixxer Cup to give a chance to the young and budding racers of India to get a foothold into the international racing arena. This is still the only platform of its kind in India, which provides the selected rider with a chance to participate in the Red Bull Rookies Cup Qualifiers in Spain!

Last year witnessed the first edition of the Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup in the country. After six races spread across two rounds, Sachin Chaudhary from Ahmedabad was crowned the winner from among seven talented, young Indian riders. He went on to represent India in Spain at the qualifiers of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in Spain.

In the words of Mr. Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, SMIPL, ndMr. Sanjay Sharma, Corporate Communications and Motorsport Head, JK TyreA new addition this year would be a Rider Selection Programme which would enable Suzuki Gixxer Cup to get the best riders from all corners of the country to come and participate. The programme will be held across 4 cities to scout for the best riding talent as per the schedule below:

Did the bike 25 make it out of the corner without a crash? As it's lean angle is like that of a MotoGP bike and almost scraping the gear levers

That pic is last year's, however!

      I was there!

Let me tell you how the bike is.

It has got rear sets with sticky JK tyres! You can do elbow down as well but the footpegs scrape!

I tried elbow down and when my elbow was 2 inches above the ground the footoegs scraped, i crashed. The corners are too slow, so is the bike!

It was hardly going 75 after ducking on the straight! The brake were amazing though. The bike is light but needs a lot more power or maybe I'm used to more powerful motorcycles.

Note : If you ride an Apache/R15 , the rear sets don't seem like rear sets.

JK Tyres? Are you sure? If i remember correctly it was sticky race MRF tyres. And yes even with the repositioned pegs, the rider still manages to scrape it all the time.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Yes Monk! JKTyres! They are the one who are sponsoring the whole event!

"Track Spec JK Tyres", that's what they call them! Definitely not MRF though.

Ah. Must be a later development. This is the bike we had ridden at Kari.
