  • Honda CLIQ launched at Rs. 42,499/-

The Honda CLIQ launched at Rs 42,499/- Ex-Showroom Delhi.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), the No. 1 scooter manufacturer in India today unveiled CLIQ– an all new 110cc offering specially developed to maximize utility with additional value of comfort and convenience for utilitarian customers.

Reiterating Honda’s next big step on taking scooterization beyond metros, Mr. Minoru Kato- President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Six out of 10 two wheelers sold in India belong to 100-110cc segment. Within this segment, automatic scooters have witnessed tremendous growth and now count for almost half of the total size. With the highly increasing demand and varied customer needs, this segment is poised to sub segmentation. As the leaders of scooter category, Honda has developed CLIQ which would address the needs of customers with additional value of comfort and convenience.”

Mr. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President - Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Focused at up-country customers with a progressive mindset, CLIQ is a perfect blend of Practicality, Versatility and value for money. Breaking the price barrier of automatic transmission on two wheels, only Honda as the market leader in automatic scooters with its unparalleled economies of scale & assured Trust, could challenge traditional preferences by bringing this kind of disruption in the 100-110cc segment.”

An industry first in terms of OEM fitment in the 100-110cc 2wheeler category, CLIQ’s special block pattern tires with deep grooves provide extra grip and better control over patchy roads under all weather conditions. These rugged tires are also more durable and have a longer life.

Wide & spacious foot-board, large under-seat storage space and rear carrier (optional) enhance the comfort and utility of increased load carrying capacity.

CLIQ is powered by the trusted 110cc Honda BS-IV HET (Honda Eco Technology) engine, which delivers superb mileage with no compromise in performance. With the engine delivering 5.91 Kw of power and a kerb weight of only 102 kgs, it has one of the best power to weight ratio which makes it extremely exciting to ride.

Ahead of its time, CLIQ comes equipped with Combi Brake System (CBS) with Equalizer technology. (As per Government regulations, CBS will be mandatory on all two-wheelers up to 125cc engine capacity from April 1, 2018). The unique Equalizer in Honda’s advanced Combi Brake System (CBS) distributes braking force proportionately between the front and rear wheels simultaneously by pressing just the left lever. This results in reduced braking distance & improved balance, leading to more confident riding compared to conventional braking.

CLIQ’s unisex design makes it equally comfortable to be ridden by both male and female riders. Far more convenient than using clutch and engaging gears, CLIQ’s automatic transmission ensures low cost of ownership and a smoother ride. With lower seat height, lighter weight, CLIQ is easy to manoeuvre through dense traffic as well as narrow lanes.

The Mobile charging socket ensures that you always remain connected while tubeless tyres, maintenance free battery, and viscous air filter adds to the convenience of the rider.

    Optional Accessories

Customers can choose from a variety of optional parts including Front Screen, Floor Cover, Box Center, Cap Cover, Rear Grip which would enhance both utility and aesthetics of CLIQ. These parts can be selected individually by the customer and are economically priced.

    Colours, Variants and Availability

CLIQ is manufactured at Honda’s 2nd factory in Tapukara, Alwar District of Rajasthan. Starting with Rajasthan, it will be made available for sale across India in a stage-wise manner. The new CLIQ comes in four attractive colours: Patriotic Red with White, Black, Moroccan Blue with White, and Orcus Grey. It is available for sale in Standard & Graphic variants and very attractively priced starting at Rs. 42,499 ex showroom, Delhi.

Very interesting design. Seems to me like they combined Navi and Activa.

I think they used the Navi's frame and built a new chassis around it

Guess they found a way to make use of all the unsold Navi's

Okay, so indicators are from 1st generation activa, handlebar from Navi and the chassis of activa i ( maybe) , interesting, looks a garage modification of stunt scooty just like the rear Yamaha R15 V2.

nope, the indicators aren't from 1st gen activa or dio.
neither is the handlebar from navi (navi has a more U shaped bar).. this looks similar to the activa/dio handle bar. this is just 'naked' i.e. doesn't have that front scoop/dome that usually covers the major part of the handlebar on the activa's/dio's.
chassis, probably based on one of their existing scoots with minor changes.

is the body made of metal or fiber/plastics ? Plastics are going to be a headache (if the scoot is dropped a couple of times) unless they are cheap to replace.

Navis are Activas. There is no "unsold Navi". Navi is built to a small number alongside Activa production line. Infact the sales numbers are good enough for Navi for HMSI to have increased its capacity to 5000 units per month.

Testing the market for a very stripped-down model with the Navi, which was fully planned, designed, and produced for the local market, Honda had expected to sell only round 2,000 units a month in the first year. But it has already got huge backlog, and therefore, the plan to double the output. "We have been really surprised by the humongous response to the Navi. It's really exceeded our expectations. We have, therefore, decided to almost double our capacity to 90,000 to 1 lakh units soon," the company's Senior Vice-President for Sales and Marketing Yadvinder Singh Guleria said.

At the launch, the company had said it would be happy if it could sell 2,000 units a month and had an installed capacity of 50,000 per annum. But Guleria said even though Navi was developed only for India, which became the largest market for Honda globally in June this year, overtaking Indonesia, they are shipping the bike to Nepal now. "Last month alone we shipped as many as 500 units to the Himalayan nation," Guleria said, adding, "going forward, the company may look at exporting the bike to other SAARC markets like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka as well."

Asked about investment for the additional capacity for Navi, which is being manufactured at the 1.2 million units per annum Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, he said no additional investment is needed as they have a flexible assembly line..

Buoyed by huge demand, Honda to double production of Navi | Latest News & Updates at Daily News & Analysis

By March 2017 60,000 Navis have been sold

While the NAVI was aimed at the urban hipsters, the CLIQ is aimed at rural people who still prefer 110cc geared motorcycles to run errands with. Hence the luggage rack on the CLIQ at the back, the stripped bodywork, the low price, the tyres for rough roads and the Navi style cheap bodywork to keep price down.
The only downside is 3.5 litre fuel tank.

              That's old news, Latest -

              www.drive spark.com/two-wheelers/2017/sales-figures-of-the-honda-navi-falls-drastically/articlecontent-pf72467-022439.html

The sales of the Honda Navi dropped from around 2000 units to less than 300 units in a matter of four months. The cause of this drastic fall in the sales numbers is still unknown.
I read somewhere that since Navi was targeted at youngsters, having a lot of middle aged men driving it drove the appeal of the bike down

Anyway we're going OT. When will honda and the others launch higher capacity scooters anyway, the market is loaded with 110 cc scooters in every shape, color and size.

edit: Drive spark(without space) is a banned word ?

Main problem with Honda Navi is fuel tank size is too small. It is impractical for rural people.

Cliq looks good. More place for knee as handle bar is slim, good for tall people. Front suspension they could give forks.

Navi and all the gearless scoots from Honda use the same chassis only the body panels differ.
