  • The new TVS Apache RTR 160 spotted? Spy Pics!

Is this the new TVS Apache RTR 160?

An xBhpian spotted the new upcoming TVS Apache RTR 160 around the TVS manufacturing plant located in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

The overall body panels and most of the parts are being shared with its bigger brother, the Apache RTR 200 4V. Whereas the important features highlighted in the RTR 200 4V was missing in the bike that was spotted. No specification details available for now.

By looking at the spy pics, comparing with RTR 200 4V, it's obvious that it is an oil cooled engine, no rear disk brake (disk brake might come as optional as old RTR 160 also had optional rear disc), no split seat, no clip on, silver colour side panel, and shod with 110/80-17 rear tyre which is smaller than the RTR200 4V with 130/70-17.

Though, the new RTR 160 gets good upgrades when compared to the old RTR 160,
    1. Monoshock
    2. Fully digital console
    3. Oil cooled engine
    4. Comfortable riding posture

The new RTR 160 will be a direct rival for the recently launched Bajaj Pulsar 160 NS and other 150 & 160 cc segment motorcycles.

Also, rumour suggests that the Apache 180 may get discontinued from the TVS lineup after the launch of this new RTR 160, which is expected by end of 2017.

Looks promising. On first shot I thought it's another Hornet. The pillion comfort would be a definitely hit with added advantage of single seat. Only the down side probably would be the 110/80 rear tyre. Though it's not that bad for a 160cc segment but with growing market and new models it's gonna be counted as a cons. But at least the build quality is comparable with Honda and no non-sense like Honda i.e. no engine kill switch.

If this is going to replace or be christened as a rtr, then to me looks like a step backwards wrt the looks department, and that's something very important a lot of folks consider while buying a 'sporty' bike. This definitely takes the 'racing dna' out of the rtr. Or are they trying to get something on the lines of the classic unicorn or a discover 150 ?!

Hope seat height is same as previous RTR 160, now a days its trend to make big bike with 800mm or 810mm seat height which sometime issue with shorter rider like me, RTR 160 and 180 put complete comfort for shorter rider

But the concern is the rear tyre size . They must have at least given a 120 section tyre

They use the same size in group B. And they lean more than you can think of.
